A Tribute to Johnny by Steve Furman - Excerpt from Dhahran Fables: Fiesta Room Tales
A tall lean man with a friendly face and a big smile knelt down by the edge of the pool and asked me, "Hey kid, you wanna learn to swim?" I had just walked the width of the pool, my feet on the bottom and my arms flinging about wildly in what I thought was a pretty good imitation of what swimming was all about. I was seven years old. In fact, I couldnt swim a lick.
