New South's Archaeology Day features hands-on activities including games, demonstrations and displays geared towards kids and families. They will be aided by Abby the ArchaeoBus! Their goal is to involve and enlighten the community about Georgia's archaeology and historic sites.
New South's archaeologists, mortuary archaeologists and historians will be guiding mock digs and excavations, pottery making and stone tool recreations. Visitors can also bring items of their own for their archaeologists to identify. They will also give tours of Stone Mountain's Civil War-era cemetery.
The event is free and open to all ages.
There will be food on sale to benefit the Society for Georgia Archaeology.
