On Friday, June 20th at 6:30 pm,

ADACI will host a discussion by Dr. Lisa Aubrey Muni, Historian, Associate Professor of African and African American Studies at Arizona State University:

"Ancestral Call: Cameroon and the Transatlantic Slave Trade." 

 

Dr. Aubrey's presentation will focus on current groundbreaking research and initial findings on a trans-Atlantic slave trade site in Cameroon that was only recognized in recent years.  The presentation will highlight slave ships traced from Cameroon to the U.S. and the Caribbean.  The program will also feature noted Filmmakers Prof. Haile Gerima and Shirikiana Gerima who will provide a response and commentary on the discussion as well as updates on their respective upcoming documentary films; and reflections from Attorney Bettie Robinson Gibbs on "Reclaiming African Roots thru DNA".
