Dear Church,
Do you remember when Wednesday evening was "church night"? Sunday morning was worship and Sunday School, of course, but Wednesdays were where the action was! Youth group, bible study, choir practice, confirmation; all of this happened on Wednesday. Then we got busy, schools gave more homework, hockey was invented, and Church Night went by the wayside. Well guess what: It's Baaaaackkkk!!!
Wednesday evening church is back now BECAUSE we're busy! Some families still find Sunday morning the best time for worship and education, but because they have things to do and places to go, it sometimes gets squeezed out. Others have schedules that are so tight, they can't even consider Sunday as a day of rest and worship. "Ah, but something might work out if it were offered on Wednesday!"
Our Wednesday evening programs, literally, have something for everyone. It all starts with dinner at 5pm, for a $3 donation. THE STORY worship happens between 5:30-6:00; we're introducing some of the most important people of the bible - in person! Every week! (This week, you'll meet Eve.) When kids go off to class at 6pm, adults are free to stay for expanded study until 6:30. Or not. And then Chill, and confirmation, and choir practice take the stage.
So what's the point? Only this; that in a world that is fractured by busy-ness, you can grow in your faith at other times. And about half of the people we see at THE STORY worship come back Sunday mornings. It's about finding community, and nurture, and good stuff for our lives, and I invite you to join us! In a few weeks, I'll play a role at THE STORY; I think I'm Samson (or maybe it's Judas, can't remember!).
See you on Wednesday in Church!
Pastor Steve

5:30-6pm Worship in the Community Life Center (CLC)

Ever wonder how all the pieces of the Bible go together? What about all those people claiming to be in God's family? The Bible tells a story, a simple, yet not so simple story about God's family and God's desire to live in harmony with all that God has created. Each week we will be introduced to a new character from the Bible and learn how their story is our story. Where will we start? At the beginning, of course! September 19: Adam and Eve
September 26: Joseph and his brothers

Who will bless the children?
Who will listen to the young hearts? Who will encourage with stories of God's faithfulness those who need them most? In today's church, both young and older adults often feel marginalized and devalued. It's time to come together to Influence the Generations! Dawn is looking for 4-8 adults of all ages to attend a one-day conference in Lake Elmo on October 19 to learn more about generations teaching and learning together. The cost is $25 and includes lunch, snacks, and conference materials. For more information, contact Dawn at dawn@oslcstillwater.org.
