This classical ensemble, with members Victoria Gorbich (violin), Vladislav Gorbich (clarinet) and Joseph Ross (piano), will perform a "mini-concert" during the Christian Formation Hour. These talented musicians are back with us to share their inspired arrangements of classical pieces, hymns and American popular standards. This mini concert and a time for fellowship will take the place of adult classes this week.
Celebrate Church's Involvement in STARS Program
Extending the Table Lunch
Sunday, August 6, Noon, Fellowship Hall

For six weeks this summer volunteers from First Church helped pre-Kindergarten children learn basic skills needed for academic success as part of the Madison Metropolitan School District's STARS (Summer Teaching to Advance Reading Success) program. Stay after church to enjoy lunch and hear volunteers share their stories as we continue our church's work to support the movement for racial equity in our community.
Message on Matthew 13
The Parable of the Mustard Seed

From its beginning the Methodist movement focused on two critical questions: "How is it with your soul?" and "Where have you seen God this week in the people you have met?" The tiny mustard seed grows into a great bush that provides protection for birds. We are the bush of safety for each other, nourishing the seed of God's kingdom found in each person we meet.
First Church Ministries Highlights

During worship we express our appreciation for the wide variety of critical ministries to which our friends and members give their gifts of time and energy as an offering to God. There are many ways we can give to God and serve our neighbors. Maybe you will be inspired!

Pride Parade and Lunch
Sunday, August 20, Noon, Fellowship Hall

"Pride is faith in our belovedness." First Church will add our faith witness to Madison's Pride Parade. Our parade entry will include a "float" consisting of a decorated truck (complete with some lawn chairs for those who need to ride through the parade) and a unit of joyful marchers. Wheelchairs, scooters, bikes, wagons and strollers are all welcome too! A quick lunch (freewill donation) will be served in Fellowship Hall at noon, then we'll gather at our spot in the parade line-up for the 1 p.m. parade. Please bring small candies to distribute during the parade.
Joys & Concerns
We extend our love and sympathy to the family and friends of Barbara Seif, who died on Monday, July 31.
