Nominations for churchwide leadership in the 2017-2020 triennium are being received through November 30, 2016. Nominations are being accepted for secretary, treasurer and board members. The president and vice president are elected at the convention by nominating ballot, so no advance nominations are needed for these two positions. The Tenth Triennial Convention of Women of the ELCA will be held July 11-13, 2017, in Minneapolis, Minn. Find the

GUESS WHO'S COMING TO THE TENTH TRIENNIAL GATHERING?
The Rev. Elizabeth Eaton, presiding bishop of the ELCA, will preach at the opening worship of the Tenth Triennial Gathering Thursday, July 13. Following the service, Eaton will participate in a meet and greet with triennial participants. Check out welcatg.org to learn more about the 2017 gathering.

MEET LIZ BURGESS, NEW EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBER
The churchwide executive board appointed Elizabeth Burgess to fill the unexpired board position of Barbara Miller, who resigned because of a move.
Liz, of Augusta, Maine, is the immediate past president of the New England Synodical Women's Organization and a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. She's been serving as a triennial gathering promoter, but will step down from that. She has a passion for justice issues and using coloring to pray. Her hobbies are knitting, reading and all electronic gadgets.

SOLAR PROJECT FUELED BY HIGHER POWER
For Mary Jo Mettler, a trip to West Africa turned into an unexpected calling to help Phebe Hospital in Liberia get solar power. "This is a God thing," Mettler said. The initiative, called "PV for Phebe" (PV stands for "photovoltaic," the process by which light is turned into electricity), aims to raise $624,000 to provide solar energy to the hospital. Read more.

ADDRESSING HUNGER & POVERTY
Women of the ELCA Executive Director Linda Post Bushkofsky joined a group of leaders from Christian denominations, churches, colleges and agencies across the country in requesting that the two presidential nominees address ways in which they will help the hungry and those living in poverty, both in the U.S. and around the world.
