GENERAL INFORMATION
Dear Arete families,
Almost all Spring Sport practices begin next week! Are you signed up yet? Here is some helpful information before we get started:
Middle School Basketball
Monday, Feb. 8, and Tuesday, Feb. 9, will be tryouts to determine A and B teams. On Monday, girls tryouts are from 3:45-5:15pm, and boys tryouts are from 5:15-6:45pm. On Tuesday (round 2), boys tryouts are from 3:45-5:15pm, and girls tryouts are from 5:15-6:45pm. There will be a study hall room for those students who remain on campus if their tryout is at 5:15pm. HS & MS Track

HS Baseball
High School Baseball practices begin Monday, Feb. 8 from 4:00-6:00pm at

HS Golf
We need golfers!! First practice is the week of Feb. 22nd.
Beginners Archery
Practices for beginners archery will start Tuesday, March 29th.

Your Tax Credit Donations Are Needed
Tax Credits have been extended?
The State of Arizona has extended the deadline for your 2015 tax credit donation to APRIL 15, 2016. This means that there is still time to make a contribution to support the athletic activities in which your child or children are involved. Currently, we need 70 more tax credit donations to make our goal. Making our goal means that fees remain the same, sports programs are not eliminated, and your child has all the resources to participate in the sport of their choice.

Introduction to HS Golf
I would like to introduce myself as Arete Prep's new Varsity Golf coach, my name is Ben Weir. My full time position is Director of Instruction at Red Mountain Ranch CC in Mesa. I have an extensive background in coaching junior golfers, ages five to seventeen. Two of my juniors recently committed to full tuition athletic scholarships to attend BYU and ASU in the fall of 2017. Developing junior golfers is my passion and future of the game. I promote a nurturing and healthy environment for your child to learn all aspects of the game properly. Our home golf course will be Sunland Village East GC four miles east of Arete on Baseline Road. Golf practices will be held Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00-5:30pm, and our first practice is Monday February 22nd.
We are very excited about introducing and offering this new golf program to Arete. Golf is a unique sport which prepares your child for the "game of life". If you have any questions and are interested in participating this season please do not hesitate to call or email me directly.

Charger of the Week
Joey Patrick plays for the Boys JV and Varsity Basketball teams. For the JV team, Joey had a great week, leading the Chargers in scoring in both games played (Apache Junction - 12 points, Gilbert Classical - 18 points).
His biggest contribution came in the overtime victory on Friday against Gilbert Classical. Joey had 18 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 7 steals in that victory. He hit a season high four 3-pointers in that game. It was a game in which he played with amazing confidence, and even stepped up in the time-outs to encourage and lead his teammates. Congratulations to Joey Patrick for being the Charger of the Week.
