Famous Designer Tales Told Tuesday

Interior Designer Tobi Fairley will be the featured storyteller for a very special Tales from the South Tin Roof Project on Tuesday evening, July 10, 2012. The live taping of the radio series will be at Starving Artist Café in the Argenta Arts District, Downtown North Little Rock. Live music by The Salty Dogs. Doors open at 5:00pm, dinner and drinks are served 5:00pm-6:30pm and the show starts at 7pm.

Selected as one of Traditional Home's Top 20 Young Designers in America, Tobi Fairley has a signature look that is fresh and simple combining colorful, large-scale prints with classic furniture styles for a beautiful and functional result.

Tobi's design blog is currently read in more than 124 countries worldwide and has been featured on several of the world's most popular design blogs including All the Best, Coco and Kelley, and was named as a favorite blog on HGTV.com. Tobi also writes a monthly design column, Tobi's Tips, for AY Magazine, a regular blog column for At Home in Arkansas Magazine called Color Confidential, and is a regular contributor to William Sonoma's Designer Marketplace.

A Hampton, Arkansas native, Tobi lives and works in Little Rock.

Argenta Community Theater is pleased to announce our first community theatre production Cabaret July 25-28. Many people are
coming together
to make Cabaret a memorable show. Bob Hupp of the Arkansas Repertory Theatre (The Rep) is directing; Vincent Insalaco from ACT is producing; Christen Pitts of North Little Rock High School and the Arkansas Dance Network and Marisa Kirby of The Rep are choreographing; Kurt Kennedy of the United Methodist Church and River City Men's Chorus is music director; Sara Cooke of North Pulaski High School is technical director. Ross Penn of UALR is stage manager. The entire cast and crew are Arkansans bringing the best of community theatre to the Argenta Arts District in downtown North Little Rock.

The New Argenta Fund announced this week a new residential development in the heart of the Argenta Arts District, downtown North Little Rock. The William F. Laman Public Library System announces its "Live at Laman" summer performers.

When: July 12 & August 9 - each concert takes place at 7:00pm
Where: Laman Library Auditorium

July 12: Amy Garland Band - Amy Garland has been one of the area's most popular and hard-working artists since 1994. Performing in solo, duo and full-band formats, mixing rock, folk, country, blues and gospel styles, Garland brings her full band to "Live at Laman."

August 9: Good Time Ramblers - The quintessential Alternative, Country, Americana, and Delta Southern Rock Band, the Good Time Ramblers finish out the summer.

Live at Laman is recorded in front of a live audience the second Thursday of each month at the William F. Laman Public Library in North Little Rock. It is rebroadcast on KUAR (FM 89.1) radio the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm.

Calling Artists For Home Plate Heroes

Jim Elder Good Sport Fund is currently calling artists to participate in its annual fundraiser, the Home Plate Heroes auction. Participating artists paint and/or decorate home plate-shaped wooden panels, each to be auctioned to the highest bidder. All proceeds collected by Jim Elder
Good Sport Fund to benefit several local nonprofits.

As is tradition, the Home Plate Heroes exhibition and auction will be held at the Thea Center, September 17 - 28. Blank plates may be picked up

The Beacon of Peace and Hope and surrounding Peace Garden presents a special welcome to visitors. Women's Action for New Directions (WAND) worked with the City of NLR and the
