Arnold Mackinac Island Ferry and Pure Michigan Boat Cruises, LLC are entering into a joint venture that will see the Isle Royale Queen III, previously sailing out of Marquette, join the Arnold fleet.

The "Isle Royale Queen III " is a classic and charming 81 foot steel hulled vessel featuring two deck levels with multiple viewing areas, three heated cabins, two restrooms, an interior bar, and a BOSE sound system with IPod and PA system. The Queen III is US Coast Guard Certified and has a capacity of 100 persons.

According to Arnold Transit Company General Manager, Veronica Dobrowolski, "The Isle Royale Queen III, will allow Arnold Mackinac Island Ferry greater flexibility for those wishing to charter the vessel for private events such as wedding parties, company and group outings, birthdays, anniversaries and music opportunities. This beautiful vessel adds a luxury option not currently available on the Straits of Mackinac. We plan to add specialty public cruises, offering a chance to enjoy the area's natural beauty while enjoying food, cocktails & entertainment."

The journey of the Isle Royale Queen III began when the T.D. Vinette Boat Company in Escanaba, Michigan was comLive Music Aboard IRQ IIImissioned in the 1950's to build a ferry boat that would carry passengers across Lake Superior to Isle Royale National Park. The IRQ III serviced Isle Royale National Park for over forty-five years sailing out of the port of Copper Harbor in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

General Manager, Dobrowolski said the Company is continuing to survey its fleet and assess the economics and logistics of adding other vessels such as a catamaran and additional service boats back into the fleet. "We appreciate the tremendous amount of support this past season as we worked through some financial difficulties. Times have changed", said Dobrowolski "and we will continue to look at improving our services and meeting the demands of the public commensurate with the history of the Arnold Line, all at affordable prices."

Arnold Transit Company is Mackinac Island's longest running ferry service, transporting Mackinac Island visitors, residents, guests, explorers & IRQ III Porthole Baradventurers since 1878. Prior to WWII, the Arnold Line was virtually the only marine operator serving Mackinac Island. In the position of offering the only passenger and freight service, coupled with the provision of building supplies and the sole source of coal and fuel oil, the Arnold Line was then & continues to be an integral part of life on Mackinac Island.

The people, boats, the growth and development of Arnold are all very much a part of the historic fabric of Mackinac Island. The Arnold Line is proud to be a part of that history and we look forward to continuing to serve the touring public and interest of the residential and business communities of the area.
