December 28, 2017
Sisters and Brothers

I just witnessed my neighbors taking down their Christmas lights (in the cold none-the-less)!  By many accounts, you'd think that Christmas was over - but its not!  Its only the 3rd day of Christmas.  We still have 9 more days of cheer and good will to celebrate!  In fact, in many cathedrals and "traditional" Anglo-catholic churches they will be offering mass each evening throughout the "octave" (8 days) of Christmas.

All this to remind ourselves that the religious observance that celebrates the Incarnation is much more important than the food and gift frenzy that falls on the 25th of December.  The mystery of God come down deserves more attention that that!  It deserves at least an octave of worship and a season (12 days of Christmastide) to honor it.

Because of the importance of observing the Incarnation, I'd like to urge you to do your best to continue the Christmas celebration and be with us in church this Sunday as we hear more about the Christ child and mark the Solemnity of Mary.  Let's end the year on a good note!

Merry Christmas, ya'll!

Fr. Dewayne

Your Vestry Nominees!

As a reminder, our Annual Parish Meeting is slated for January 7th.  We have 3 folks who have agreed to stand for election, and one who is standing for re-election, but we would like to have 4 or more.  Please thank these folks for standing (for election) and urge Bill and Andy to give it some thought!

Joyce Lynch (standing for re-election)
Marke Burroughs (has served previously)
Gary Hughes (who will become a member on Jan 7th)
Marie Welden (has served previously)

Bill Carpenter and Andy Kinslow are a "maybe".  (You might consider urging them to say "yes"!)

Lay Delegates for 2018 and 2019 Needed!

This year, we NEED to elect 2 Lay Delegate and 1 Alternates to serve in 2018 and 2019.  We know for sure that our Communion's Holy Synod is slated for Phoenix in September 2018.

If you are willing to stand for election as a Lay Delegate or Alternate, please contact our Sr. Warden, Helen Johnson.

Annual Parish Meeting and Potluck - Jan 7th

January 7th is slated as our Annual Parish Meeting and Parish Potluck.  Besides hearing a presentation regarding what we've accomplished as a parish in 2017, we'll be electing 3 Vestry members and 2 Lay Delegates as well as approving the 2018 Budget.

Fried chicken will be provided!  Folks are invited to bring a side-dish!  The meeting will begin immediately following worship.

Scripture Readings for Sunday
I will greatly rejoice in the Almighty,
my whole being shall exult in my God;

Alleluia!  Praise God from the heavens; *
Sing praise in the heights.
Praise God, all you angels; *
sing praise, all the heavenly host.

  Galatians 4:4-7

When the fullness of time had come, God sent the Son, born of a woman, born under the law, in order to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as children.

Luke 2:22-40

And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father's only son, full of grace and truth.

Winter Weather
Church Closing Notice

If, due to weather conditions, Fr. Dewayne and the Vestry determine that it is unsafe to hold services, an announcement will go out via these methods:

(1)   Our Church app;
(2)  Our Facebook page;
(3)    Our website - please see the gold "Announcement" block at the top right hand side of the page.
(4)    KRMG. KRMG will share our information on-air, online, on the KRMG App, and with sister stations KWEN-K95.5FM, KRAV-MIX 96, and KJSR-Eagle 103.3.

Assuming that there is power and the internet is working, we will try to send out a blast email to everyone through our Power Church database program.

If winter weather has you wondering if our doors are open, please consult one of those sources to find the answer. As always, you must determine if it's safe to make the trip--even if we are open. Be safe!
