Sisters and brothers:

Last Sunday many of us had a great time after worship as we tried our hand a creating our own tie-dyed artwork.  Some of them promise to be beautiful, some, well, they'll be "interesting."  Whichever one you end up with, be sure to plan on wearing your creation on August 13th.

THIS COMING Sunday we'll gather after worship for another fun event: a parish potluck and ice cream social.  Fried chicken will be provided.  Folks are invited to bring a side-dish to share.  Gathering with friends...  Great summer foods...  What more could you want?

Hope to see everyone on Sunday!

Blessings!

Fr. Dewayne

Scripture Readings for Sunday

So Jacob served seven years for Rachel, and they seemed to him but a few days because of the love he had for her.

We give you thanks O  God and call upon your Name;
we make known your deeds among the peoples.

We know that God makes everything work together for the good of those who love God and have been called according to God's purpose.

And Jesus said to them, "Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like the master of a household who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old."

Giving Statements?

The members of the Vestry want to make sure that everyone knows that they are always mindful of the generous gifts that each of us give to support this parish - not only financially, but with our time and our talent.  As a way to provide transparency and to build confidence in our record-keeping, we are offering folks the opportunity to receive a mid-year giving statement.  This allows you to make sure all your contributions have been recorded correctly and also provides you a chance to see how you are doing in keeping up with your pledge.

If you would like a mid-year statement, please contact our Treasurer, Donna Eastham.

As a reminder, we are aware that from time-to-time folks may experience a change in their lives and may find that they are not able to meet their pledging goals.  Conversely some folks may find that they are able to give even more.  If either of these scenarios sound like you, please let Donna know if you would like to make an adjustment, and she can make that change in our church's financial system.

Thanks to each of you for your generosity!

Food Pantry Leader Needed

On Monday night, Karl Villadsen submitted his resignation to the Vestry.  His last day will be the end of December.  Karl has served faithfully in this ministry for many, many years.  We thank him for his dedication and for letting us know well in advance of his decision. While we may not like it, we certainly do understand his need to step back at this time.

We are, of course, now looking for someone to take over as the lead person for this ministry.  The Food Pantry is the biggest and most visible ministry we have, and almost all of those who benefit from it are folks outside our parish family.

If you have the time to dedicate to this wonderful, important and vital ministry, please contact Raul Rosario or Fr. Dewayne Messenger.

For Everyone with a Big Heart...

Prayer for Church Growth and Attendance

God, you are the source of life and growth.  Pour out your Spirit upon us that we may grow together in wisdom, love, devotion, and faithfulness. Stir up within us a desire to draw closer as one family. Give us a yearning for outreach, that we may serve a hurting world; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever.   Amen.
