May 11, 2017
 Sisters and brothers:

We continue with our special events in May THIS Sunday as we welcome the Rev. Leslie Dotson as our guest preacher.  I look forward to hearing Leslie.  She is a wonderful and supportive friend to our community.  I specifically asked Leslie to join us because I wanted for us to have more opportunities to hear women preaching.  So I hope you will take advantage and join us.  Let's show some gracious St. Jerome hospitality to Leslie!

As you may know, Br. Ray and I returned last Thursday evening from our travels by RV to Reading, Pennsylvania to pick up the church lights that we had previously purchased. I am happy to report that, although we had some rough travels home, all of the lamps made it safely and are now in the process of being rewired and prepared for hanging.  We'll soon have these new (antique) lights serving our needs as we worship God in our sacred space.

We also announced a couple of weeks ago that we received approval to remodel our King Street entrance doors.  A rendering of what we envision is available in the Fellowship Hall.  The doors have been ordered and should be arriving soon.  Both of these wonderful additions would not be possible without generous donations to our Memorial Fund.  So please keep that in mind as you remember loved ones.

Finally, I want to remind everyone that we have need for some volunteers to staff the Mayfest beer and snacks booth on May 18-21st as well as the St. Jerome Pride booth on June 3rd.  If you are willing to help us out, we'd greatly appreciate it.  Sign-up sheets are available in the Fellowship Hall.

Blessings!

Fr. Dewayne

Volunteers Needed!

Tulsa International Mayfest 2017 is next week (May 18-21), and
folks from St. Jerome are staffing the "Beer Booth" and the "Healthy Snacks Booth" as a St. Jerome fundraiser.

Your help is needed! The time slots can be as short as an hour-- hopefully you'll want to do more than just an hour!--or you can stay all day. We really need volunteers for these booths.  Those who want to help in the Beer Booth must go through training, so please let us know soon, so that your training can be scheduled and completed.

For more information, please contact Joyce Lynch at (479) 524-5825.

Coming June 14
Bobby Jo Valentine

St. Jerome Church is pleased to present Bobby Jo Valentine in concert on June 14. The concert will be preceded by a spaghetti supper. The entire evening is yours for just $15!

From his website:

Born into a Baptist church of strict lines and sharp edges, and coming out of that culture to discover who he really is, Bobby is now a believer of a different sort: a believer in the wild, strange, mystical nature of the world. Faith has come to mean something much deeper, wider, and less cut-and-dried than when he started. Bobby now finds that he has just as much to learn from the people who believe differently than he does as the ones that do [believe as he does]. ...He is ecstatic any time he can discuss the big questions, challenge the easy answers, and inspire people to move closer to love.

Mark you calendars; get your tickets; then anticipate a wonderful evening with friends, good food, and exceptional music!

Tulsa Pride (June 2nd)
Volunteers Needed!

As our usual custom, this year we'll be staffing a St. Jerome booth at the Tulsa Pride 2017 celebration at the Equality Center.  If you are available to staff the booth for any bit of time (an hour or several hours) please see Fr. Dewayne.

Round Robbin Hosts Needed!
Round Robbin Dinners Begin in June!

In the Fellowship Hall (Undercroft) you will find a sign-up sheet for those who are willing to host Round Robbin Dinners.  The sign-up sheet includes a space for how many folks you can host, a space for possible hosting dates and a phone number.  If you can determine a date of when you are available, it will help with matching up those who would like to participate.

REMEMBER: the Goal is to break bread with folks you might not know as well so that we might get to know each other better!

Prayer for Church Growth and Attendance

God, you are the source of life and growth.  Pour out your Spirit upon us that we may grow together in wisdom, love, devotion, and faithfulness. Stir up within us a desire to draw closer as one family. Give us a yearning for outreach, that we may serve a hurting world; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever.   Amen.
