Global AF Aware Week 20-26 November 2017
Detect, Protect, Correct & Perfect

We want YOU to help us make the detection and protection of AF a priority by raising awareness of AF and to help identify the undiagnosed person.

Here are some reasons why:

  • Atrial Fibrillation, or AF, is the most common arrhythmia (heart rhythm disorder).

  • Over one million people have been diagnosed with AF in the UK alone, although experts estimate that at least a third more remain undiagnosed.

  • With an ageing population, this number is expected to double by 2050.

Patient Dies After Being Denied Access to Life-Saving Treatment Due to Lack of NHS Funding

Arrhythmia Alliance is calling on NHS England to reconsider its ‘Commissioning through Evaluation’ (CtE) process, following the death of a high risk atrial fibrillation (AF) patient from a bleed to the brain after being refused a potentially life-saving treatment. The evaluation process of left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO), a treatment approved by the FDA and used across Europe, has meant hundreds of patients being denied access to this treatment with no guarantee when the evaluation will be completed to allow access.

Results Are In

The mobile diagnostic survey asked our members who have used a mobile diagnostic tool to share their experiences using this technology.

The aim of the mobile diagnostic survey was to ask those STARS, Arrhythmia Alliance and AF Association members who have used a mobile diagnostic tool of their experiences using this technology. The survey was run over five weeks and we had 124 responses. We would like to thank all those who took part for their feedback as it has provided us with far greater understanding of the practicalities of this technology and the benefits that you can bring to patients.
