"The Art of Faith And Life": Jazz During Worship &
Art Show
Celebrating The Work Of Dominic Spera After Worship in Room 8
We will celebrate this theme of "The Art of Faith and Life" in our 10:30am worship service. Music will be led by Jazz artist, Pat Harbison (church member and Professor IU Jacobs School of Music Jazz Studies Department) and friends, and also Nicholas Narducci. Renowned Jazz artist and trumpeter, Dominic Spera is also an accomplished visual artist. Plan to stay after worship, on June 25th, for a Reception and Art Show of Dominic's paintings and drawings that span over six decades. Dominic, and his wife Patty, are longtime members of St. Mark's, and share many gifts with this community. Dominic is Professor Emeritus at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and is the composer of over 100 jazz ensemble compositions.

This Sunday, June 25th, 4:00pm at Fish Creek Preserve
Pitch-In Dinner and Fun. All Are Invited!
After a great morning of jazz and art, plan to spend the afternoon in the great outdoors at a great location for all ages! Wade in the creek, hike on trails, investigate the Learning Pond, toss a ball around, or just relax on a blanket in the grassy meadow. Bring a side dish or dessert to share. Nitrate-free hotdogs, mac 'n' cheese, and drinks provided. Sign up in Garton Hall or sign up online HERE.
Fish Creek is located forty minutes west of the church. Directions will be posted at church, and we will have some folks at the church to lead a traveling group there. Come and join in a great time!

Breakfast Volunteers
Our breakfast event has become a great way to start the morning, and to provide a deep welcome to all who come our way. It is also a great way for those groups who help provide breakfast to raise contributions for their own mission effort or a cause they value. Sign up today in Garton Hall to provide breakfast on a future Sunday. Contact the church office to reach Jimmy Moore at the church office or breakfast coordinator Christine Conrad at 812-961-2959 or [email protected]

car-front-icon.gif UPDATE ON "PAVING THE WAY" PARKING LOT RE-PAVING PROJECT
Parking lot paving will begin Monday, July 10th. For the week of July 10-14th, there will be no parking at St. Mark's. The building will be locked throughout the week and all events have been moved offsite or cancelled for Monday through Friday. Leaders of groups which meet at St. Mark's will be contacting their group members about changes of location or rescheduled times for meetings. During the paving, church staff will be working in the church office from 9am-3pm, and they can be contacted by phone or email as usual. Thank you to those who have given or pledged to Project St. Mark's the Sequel, and to the people and agencies who have supported the "Paving the Way" fundraising project to make this improvement project possible. The parking lot work should be completed during the week beginning July 10, though weather delays are always possible. In any event, the church and parking lot will be available for full activities on each Saturday and Sunday.

Bible Banter

The Bible Banter class meets in Room 11 each Sunday from 9:30-10:15am. The Scripture text for the morning's sermon is used as a discussion-starter.

We look at the passage in its larger context, and we sometimes explore a bit of Bible-writing history. We offer some thoughts on what the morning's sermon might look like, based on the Scripture the pastor has selected. We leave time to discuss implications of the Scripture for our own lives, and we often even delve into topics far afield of the morning's original topic. You are invited to bring some breakfast from Garton Hall into Room 11 and join the conversation.

Adult Sunday School, 9:15am
Nomads
The Nomads class is a generally progressive group which meets each Sunday at 9:15am in Room 10 for fellowship and discussion of selected readings on issues related to faith, spirituality, or social justice.

All are welcome with no preparation required.

Pilgrims
The Holy Land Revealed
A video lecture series with Prof. Jodi Magness, Univ. North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Lecture 23 on Sunday, June 25th : "Synagogues in the Time of Jesus"
Archaeology provides the ability to reconstruct the world of Jesus, and it shows that Jewish society in Galilee was polarized by classes. An elite class was very wealthy; however, the majority of the population lived just above the subsistence level but was not desperately poor. This majority lived in villages and  earned their livelihood through farming or fishing. Dr. Magness believes that the majority group was the group to which Jesus belonged and which formed his main target audience.

All are welcome at any point in the lecture series. Come join us for the video and the resulting discussions.
