Thank you, Andrea

For the past 5 years  Andrea Shlasko has served on the Board of Directors for The Open Studio and designed and maintained our web site.  Truly, we could not have done it without her.  She graciously lent her technical skills to a group of totally technically deficient dreamers and we have had the gift of a beautiful, fully functional web site because of her generosity with her time and skill.

This year, her own art is claiming her and she is serving as the president of her Quilters Guild.  That new responsibility along with her husband running for office and TOS's website needing upgrading meant a lot of claims on her time.  She would have toughed it out and made it all happen, but fortunately, Bill Lundgren arrived on the scene and has willingly taken the website reigns allowing Andrea to step back from the job as webmaster.  She is remaining on our Board of Directors and we all want to say.....

THANK YOU ANDREA for rescuing our fledgling organization and becoming such a critical and much loved participant.

Art Classes with Dee!

After serving as an RN for several years, Dee decided to switch it up a bit with training in Fine Arts (OCAD).  To that mix she added a B.A. (U.Waterloo), focusing on Spirituality & Personality Development. For the past 20 years Dee's been making art and using "creativity as healing".  With those curative experiences under her belt, she decided it was time to step back out into the world...to be of service to the Greater Good.  Becoming an Expressive Arts Practitioner, and an Open Studio Facilitator, allows her the joy of offering art-making sessions and encouraging "creativity" in others.

The Artists' Way - 12 week program starts November 22
Come join this 12 week program to jumpstart or to revive creativity in your life. This "Creative Cluster" will be hosted and coordinated by artist & Expressive Arts Facilitator, Dee Calzavara - following the template that Julia Cameron sets out in her "The Artist's Way" book. You are expected to dedicate a sincere amount of time to yourself each week, to play (work) through this 12 week program with your fellow creatives in the cluster. "...you will get hunches, messages, straight out 'marching orders' on this journey if you listen for it. So keep your soul cocked for guidance."  We meet at The Open Studio Englewood Rd. entrance and make our way to one of the lovely spots on the property.

$60.00 per person for the 12 week program. Please obtain "The Artist's Way" book before the start of the program and bring the book, writing paper, and a pen to class each week.

It's Never Too Late To Begin Again - 12 wk program starts Nov 23
This is a new program that Julia Cameron, author of "The Artist's Way" developed in 2016. She has geared this 12 week agenda towards us "midlife and beyond" folks, and for the "retirees and other creative souls". The 12 week program focuses on discovering our creativity and meaning at this stage of our lives.  Come join me, your host Dee Calzavara, expressive artist, as we journey down this exciting new road together.  We will meet at the Englewood Rd entrance to The Open Studio and proceed to one of the available spots on this lovely property.

$60.00 per person for the 12 week program. Please purchase the book "It's Never too late to Begin Again" by Julia Cameron before the first class. You will need to bring this book each week along with writing paper and a pen.

Go With The FLOW - Starts November 21
Mondays, 10:00am - 12:30pm OR Fridays, 2:00pm - 4:30pm
This is an Expressive Arts class that encourages creativity by FLOWing from one art form to another in a playful way. This movement takes participants out of their left-sided critic brain and puts them into their right-sided creative mind.
It's like summer camp for big people! Dee Calzavara, artist and Expressive Arts Facilitator, will be hosting these creatively fun art sessions. Come be inspired and surprised by your own essence as you "FLOW" into the creative process using painting, sculpting, drawing, poetry, movement, story telling, music, sound baths, art journaling, collage, mask making, etc., etc. Creativity comes in many forms and expressive arts gives you a close encounter with several. If you have limited artistic knowledge then you'll learn new stuff, if you have lots of art experience then this is where you can explore, combine, and play with new techniques.  In the new Expressive Arts Building at The Open Studio.

$20.00 per class, or $75.00 for 4 classes; includes materials. A small fee will be charged if extra materials are used.

Open Studio Process - Starts November 21
Mondays, 2:00pm - 4:30pm OR Fridays, 10:00am - 12:30pm
Students with artistic experience ranging from none to expert will benefit from learning the Open Studio Process. Together we play, explore, and experiment with the materials for drawing, painting, basic sculpture, collage, etc. in a pleasure driven way that is self-empowering, leading to personal growth and greater consciousness. The Open Studio Process is a creative art-making process involving: Intention Setting, Intuitive Art-making, and Reflective Witness Writing. This process is conducted in a Critique-and-Comment-free environment. It's a journey with ART along a spiritual path. Open Studio Process can be both insightful and healing.
Come join me, Dee Calzavara - artist, Open Studio & Expressive ArtsFacilitator - and learn how to have a deeper more personal experience with your art-making. I
