retrospective for artist

Bonnie Gregory.

Bonnie passed away on June 25, 2011.  She exhibited her work in the Park Interpretive Store and her image "Crystal Cove Christmas" won last years Holiday Paint Out competition and is now featured on the 2011 holiday boxed cards.

During the 70ʼs, Bonnie painted several large paintings of many Crystal Cove cottages. She would spend hours painting or making studies of the cottages, often her paintings would end up in the sand. Bonnie had a unique graphic style and painted in acrylic, which is difficult when painting outdoors. She continued this series for several years capturing a bygone era. Christine Shirley, a resident and one of the stalwart women who was responsible for the Historic District, hosted a showing of her work in Cottage #26. Bonnie was also an exhibitor at the Sawdust Art Festival and Festival of the Arts. She moved to Idaho after her husband passed away and painted in a more abstract style.

She returned to the Laguna Beach area, happily, and resumed plein air painting depicting

many scenes throughout Crystal Cove State Park.

To honor her memory, her work will be on exhibit and

refreshments will be provided.
