In the Spotlight: Amanda Sanfilippo curator of the 2014 Art Days Fringe
Each year the Fringe component of Downtown Miami's annual Art Days event features artist projects made specifically for their locations. These site responsive projects are often found in some unlikely places, from a blow-up Godzilla climbing out of the Christ Fellowship Church by Reed Van Brunschot to a wheatgrass station at a local bar by Margaret McInroe, to name a few. For the second year running, Amanda Sanfilippo is curating the Fringe that this year features five extraordinary artist projects. Helping to make these projects so extraordinary is the first time partnership between the Miami DDA and Miami Dade Art in Public Places that focused on expanding the Fringe to a week long and providing additional support to artists. We speak to curator Amanda Sanfilippo to find out the importance of the Fringe projects and how the Fringe has grown in 2014. Image: Amanda Sanfilippo

"Adler Guerrier: Formulating a Plot" at PAMM
Opening Reception: Thursday August 7, 6-9pm
DWNTWN Art House resident artist, Adler Guerrier, celebrates his first museum solo exhibition. Titled "Adler Guerrier: Formulating a Plot," his exhibition investigates how Miami's social, political and economic history and current state of being, has come to define the city's urban as well as suburban landscape. Taking on the role of the flneur (an undirected urban wanderer), Guerrier navigates distinct neighborhoods as well as the "in-between" spaces within the cityscape.
