About the exhibit:

Form & Function is an exhibition of unique, one-of-a-kind, handcrafted objects both aesthetic in form and utilitarian in nature. It is a juried exhibition showcasing the art and design of the best regional fine and applied arts including but not limited to basketry, ceramics, textiles, wearable art, glass, metal, furniture, jewelry, and toys. We are looking for work that crosses the boundary between art and craft, work that shows the aesthetic of making beautiful and interesting objects and explores the artistry of functionality. Accepted media: Clay, fiber, glass, wood, metal, and mixed media. 


 

Juror: Kate Eilertsen

Kate Eilertsen is the Director of the Sonoma Valley Museum of Arts. Previous jobs include Acting Director of Visual Arts at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Director and Special Projects Manager at UC Berkeley Museum at Blackhawk, and Director of Exhibitions at Harvard University Art Museums.

 

Entry Fees:

$25.00 for the first image, $5.00 for each additional image, five (5) images maximum.  For Arts Benicia members, $20.00 for the first image; additional images are $5.00 each. JPEGs only.

Images:

Up to FIVE jpeg images may be submitted.

Only digital images will be considered.

Please label your files as follows: Last name_Title.jpg

Send your high-resolution jpg files as email attachments.

 

ALL ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BY November 7 IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED.

 

Jury Notification: All artists will be notified by November 11.

 

Delivery: Accepted work must be delivered to Arts Benicia on 

Monday November 24 between 3-7 pm.

Forms and Payment: Your signed exhibitor contract, inventory form, and entry fees are due by November 24.

 

Shipping:

Artists are responsible for all shipping costs. 

 

Sales:

Artists will receive 60% on the sale of their work. 

 

Artwork pick up:

Unsold artwork must be retrieved from Arts Benicia on 
Sunday, December 21, 5-7 pm. 
 

 

If you cannot pick up your art work yourself, or arrange to have your work picked up by someone else on Sunday, December 21, please make alternative arrangements with Arts Benicia. Otherwise a late fee of $10/day will be applied to any work not picked up. To make alternate arrangements please contact Program Coordinator Mary Shaw: [email protected].

 

Important note: Arts Benicia will be CLOSED from

December 22-January 7, 2015.

About the gallery:

Arts Benicia's pristine 2,000 square foot gallery is the focal point of a large artists' community based in Benicia's Historic Arsenal District. We leverage the talent and dedication of our member artists to serve the greater community, and we promote and advocate for the artists to the greater community as well.

"Arts Benicia's mission is to stimulate, educate and nurture cultural life in Benicia primarily through the visual arts. This community based non-profit organization provides exhibitions, educational programs, and classes that support visual artists and engage the broader community."
