Greetings! Massachusetts is rich in arts and culture, so it's no surprise that exciting events, exhibits and festivals are held in the state's 16 regions all year long. Find out more below! 

Cultural Road Trip: Pittsfield

Summer means a terrific musical lineup at Mountain Park, located on Route 5 between Holyoke and Northampton! The 2012 schedule includes Bonnie Raitt with Mavis Staples (June 8th at 7 p.m.), Fiona Apple with Blake Mills (June 23rd at 7p.m.), Death Cab for Cutie with Surfer Blood (July 20th at 7 p.m.), Get the Led Out: The American Led Zeppelin, The Machine performs Pink Floyd and Rum Runners at the Summer State of Mind Benefit Concert for  Allie's Five O'Clock Fund, the Jimmy Fund and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute (July 21st at 4 p.m.), Jackson Browne with Sara Watkins (August 1st at 7 p.m.), Josh Turner (August 3rd at 7 p.m.), Girl Talk (August 18th at 7 p.m.) and Darius Rucker (September 14th at 7 p.m.) Tickets are available at Northampton Box Office at 413-586-8686 and online at IHEG.com.

Hampshire County

The Taste of Amherst will be held June 14-17! Featuring great food, live music, cooking demonstrations and events for kids, the Taste is a fun event for all! This year, meet the Cat in the Hat and eat Green Eggs and Ham during the Sunday Kids' Cooking Demos. And the Primate Fiasco performs on Sunday, one of the many bands on the main stage over the four-day festival. For more information, visit facebook.com/tasteofamherst.

Johnny Appleseed Country

The sound of music fills the summer air in Johnny Appleseed Country! The season begins on June 16th, with Leominster's Starburst, an evening filled with music and fireworks, at Doyle Field. The event includes performances by a 90-piece student concert band, the Leominster High Jazz Band and the Starburst Concert Band. Concerts continue all summer at Coggshall Park in Fitchburg on Sunday afternoons, and on town commons throughout the region nearly every day of the week. For listings, visit www.appleseed.org.

Martha's Vineyard

The Vineyard Artisans Festivals will be held every Sunday in June from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the West Tisbury Grange Hall! A Vineyard Summer tradition and the only weekly juried art show where the public can meet over 70 artisans and buy directly from them, the festivals feature demonstrations, weaving, fine furniture, pottery, stained glass, oil paintings, pastels, mixed media, sculpture, wampum jewelry, quilts, clothing, sea glass windows, handmade books and more. Admission is free!

Mohawk Trail Region

The Berkshire Food Festival is set for noon to 4 p.m. June 24th on Main Street in North Adams! Featuring the cuisine of 20+ restaurants, along with micro-brewed beer and wine tasting, live music and great raffle drawings. Next up is the Eagle Street Beach Party and Fiesta on July 13th in North Adams. Over 250,000 pounds of sand will cover the entire length of Eagle Street for this free family-friendly beach party! MetroWest

On June 11th, the 5th Annual Taste of Marlborough and Brewfest promises to be twice as large as previous years, with samples of more than 75 brews from around the world, international foods from more than two dozen eating establishments, and music at 13 stages throughout downtown Marlborough! Hosted by Olde Marlborough from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., the event raises funds not just for this nonprofit devoted to preserving and sharing Marlborough's history, but for other nonprofit causes as well.

Nantucket Island

For five days in June - June 20-24 - the Nantucket Film Festival will bring more films than ever, more incredible stories, one-of-a-kind signature programs, and the rich atmosphere you've come to know and love! The NFF has become one of the premier destination film festivals in the world. Visitors come from all over to experience preview screenings and standout hospitality on a magical island rich with history, a friendly atmosphere, and beautiful sandy beaches. North of Boston

Art abounds North of Boston this June. The Salem Arts Festival takes place June 1-3, followed by Arts Fest in downtown Beverly on June 16th. Come and be entertained, shop, eat and have fun! Or break away from the crowd and explore the working art colonies in Gloucester and Rockport during the Cape Ann Artisans Open Studio Tour on June 23-24. Plymouth County

South Shore Art Center's 57th Annual Arts Festival will be celebrated June 15-17 on Cohasset's historic, Oceanside Common! Come enjoy one of New England's premier arts festivals, featuring over 100 juried craft and fine artist booths, artist demonstrations, a juried art exhibition, Members' and Young Artists exhibitions, food and entertainment. Hours are Friday 2 to 7 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sunday noon to 5 p.m. Visit www.ssac.org for more information!

Southeastern Massachusetts

On June 2, the 19th Annual Taunton Riverfront Festival will be held at Weir Riverfront Park in Taunton! This day-long, family-oriented community celebration features live entertainment, food court, games, crafts, educational exhibits, and children's activities. Then, New Bedford celebrates its deep cultural ties and traditions with Portugal in the city's north end at the annual Day of Portugal Festival Weekend on June 7-10. Fun-filled weekend of delicious ethnic food, music and the culture of Portugal.

The Berkshires

The Berkshires introduces Call Me Melville, a county-wide celebration of all things Melville! This celebration will introduce his writings to a new generation through music, film, theatre, art and history. It allows you to explore a dozen sites which influenced the life and writing of one of America's most treasured authors, Herman Melville. Greater Merrimack Valley

More than 70 photographs by world-renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz will be featured at the Concord Museum from June 28th through September 23rd. The photos were taken between April 2009 and May 2011. Nine of the photos were taken in Concord. The exhibit, titled "Annie Leibovitz: Pilgrimage," was organized by the Smithsonian American Art Museum and is being presented in collaboration with Louisa May Alcott's Orchard House. Central Massachusetts

Start your summer weekends off right with sensational music outdoors on the beautiful EcoTarium grounds with Live at Sunset! This season starts on June 15th and concludes on July 27th. Also, June 23rd is the 15th Annual Willis Center's African American and Juneteenth Festival. This great family and community event celebrates African American history and culture and the oldest nationally recognized end of slavery. Enjoy music, arts and craft, food, dance, and vendors from the Worcester community!

Franklin County

The Mutton & Mead Medieval Renaissance Festival will be held June 23-24 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 210 Turners Falls Road in Turners Falls! Meet Robin Hood and his Band of Merry Men, Maid Marian, Friar Tuck, Little John, the Sheriff of Nottingham and a myriad of artisans, musicians and entertainers, who will be jousting and performing feats of archery, falconry and tournament play. Also enjoy period food and crafts. Adults $15 at the gate, Kids (7-12) and Seniors (60+) $10.

Greater Boston

June 2012 in Boston means free festivals! The 34th Annual Dragon Boat Festival will be held June 9-10. Races will be held both days, and then Sunday's festival along Charles River features Asian food, arts and crafts & Asian cultural performances. Also check out the 27th annual Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl, to run June 5-7 in City Hall Plaza, the 42nd Annual Gay Pride Parade & Festival  on June 9th, and The Bunker Hill/Charlestown Parade on June 10th.

Cape Cod

Celebrate the first day of Summer 2012 at the 4th Annual Cape Cod Quahog Day at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20th at The Skipper Restaurant in South Yarmouth! Watch Doug the Quahog come out for the official "Quahog Prognostication" of how many weeks of beach weather lie ahead. Also in June, check out the Cape Cod Antique Dealers Association's 33rd Annual Spring Outdoor Antiques Show in Yarmouth on June 2nd and the 11th Annual Cape Cod Maritime Festival on Hyannis Harbor June 9-10!
