ArtSpot and SPECTRUM Miami Art Fairs Significant Sales and Attendance Successes |

Both art fairs side by side took place from December 4- 8 in the heart of Wynwood main Miami's art district. The fairs received a crowd of more than 4,200 guests on its opening night and more than 26,000 guests total. There was a wide array of compelling art at the show - From masters and contemporaries ranging from sculpture, video, photography, works on paper, mixed media, and more. As a result, exhibitors' sales were plentiful and collectors walked away with many exceptional artworks. |
The VIP opening preview party on Wednesday, December 4, included artists unveilings and musical entertainment from Miami's DJ What, passed hors d'oeuvres, complimentary products from VitaCoco and KIND snacks, as well as complimentary cocktails and wine from Tanduay Asian rum, Belaya Rus vodka and Repeat Wines. The evening also featured a live photo shoot with Miami City Ballet dancers by Jordan Matter, photographer and New York Times bestselling author of "Dancers Among Us."

I think that the success of both fairs ArtSpot and SPECTRUM Miami Art Fairs, is the fact that we the organizers decided to think outside of the box and concentrated only on offering what is fresh in the art world, as well as what was missing from the Art Basel Miami Week. Here are some highlights from ArtSpot International Art Fair and SPECTRUM Miami:
The Americas Collection galleryhas sales in process for $76,000 before the closing of the show from highlighted artists Pablo Martinez and Wladimiro Politano.
Ford Fine Art sold a Diego Rivera to a collector from Mexico and has sales in process for $140,000 overall.
Aldo Castillo Gallery sold seven works by Emil Alzamora, three works by Fredy Villamil, four works by Adriana Carvalho and eight installations by Ancizar Marin among others.
33 Contemporary Gallery, featuring the Zhou Brothers along other artists from China, Europe, the United States and Mexico has sales in process for $46,000 from Harry Sudman, Dana Major and Christine Forni.
Chinese artist Fu Wenjun had a sell-out show, selling all twelve pieces he brought from China to a single collector. |
Ben Joyce moved three pieces and lined up ten commissions for his signature "Abstract Topophilia" works (inspired by Google Earth images). His highest-seller was "San Francisco," which sold for $11,000.
Nicole Furman sold three pieces ("Kissing' Minnie" was the highest at $5,000), Art Company Misoolsidae sold five (highest seller was $5,700), Current Art Group USA sold more than $40,000 as the end of the fair.
Cuban artist Humberto Benitez sold a whopping total of seven works; his highest-selling piece was "Los Invitados," which went for $23,000. The Selby Fleetwood Gallery showcased stunning works and displayed them both inside and outdoors. They sold many pieces, including Susan Stamm Evans' "Threads" priced at $40,000 and Kevin Box "Temple Mandala" priced at $20,000.
Gordon Huethersold "Stix & Stones" for $28,000, his "Sweet Orange Lens" at $9,500," items from his "Silver Lens" series at $8,500 each, and-get this-in the last three minutes of the show collectors claimed $18,500 worth of his exceptional works and that's just to name a few!
In addition to the vast array of contemporary works at the show, ArtSpot and SPECTRUM saw some classics from Chagall, Picasso, Diego Rivera, and many other masters. Such masters were mainly showcased by Old Towne Gallery and the Latin American Masters most of them born before 1940 were shown by Ford Fine Art .
This year, show organizers partnered with Life Is Art, a local not-for-profit organization that works to promote and support the arts and the community in South Florida through events and education.
