"Good Friday" is not a universal name for the day. The liturgical title for the day in the Western church was "Friday of Preparation," since the time Jews used the word paraskeue (getting ready) for Friday, meaning the "day of preparation." Popular names for the day are "Holy Friday" among the Latin nations, "Great Friday" among the Slavic peoples, "Friday of Mourning" in Germany, "Long Friday" in Norway, and "Holy Friday" (Viernes Santo) among Hispanic peoples.

Hi! This Sunday you will see some unusual trees around the church. These trees will have ornaments, shaped as either an Easter egg or Easter basket, on them. Each ornament will represent a ministry that we are supporting along with many other United Methodist Churches. These ornaments provide an opportunity to give beyond your regular tithe.

UMW Unit Meeting
The Asbury UMW will hold their Unit meeting on Thursday, March 7 at 9:00 AM in the Hospitality Room. This meeting will be hosted by the Elizabeth UMW Circle. The program will be their Easter program and will be led by Tibby Jerome. All women are invited to attend.

Adult Confirmation Class
An Adult Confirmation class has begun. Please join us on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 PM.
We were not able to get together enough players to participate in a summer softball league. However, we would like to try to put together one for the Fall Softball season. Easter Sunrise Service and Pancake Breakfast
Sunday, March 31 at 6:45 am will be the start of the sunrise service in the parking lot on the west side of the building and right after will be the Pancake Breakfast at approx. 7:30 am in west hall. Please come join us and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus.
We are in need of helpers for the pancake breakfast (set-up, flippers/preparers, servers, clean-up). If interested please send me an e-mail kortega@asburyabq.org or call 299-0643 .

Youth At ROC Mid-High Camp
A group of eight Asbury Youth, along with sponsors Tracy Cross and Doug Casas, will be attending ROC 2013 Mid-High Camp March 1-3 at Sacramento UM Assembly. Let's keep them in our prayers for a safe and fruitful journey.
Parent and Youth Meeting
There will be a Parent and Youth meeting on March 17th after the 11:00 service in the youth room! We will be discussing mission trip, summer camps, and fundraising. This meeting will be quick so please come if you or your youth are interested!
