Spotlight on Ashley Morrison

Her business acumen and warm, friendly personality make Ashley Morrison an ideal ambassador for the Stanly County Chamber of Commerce. Visiting businesses and attending ribbon-cuttings and other Chamber events are aspects of a job that Ashley enjoys. But this is only a part of this busy wife and mother’s life. A member of the family whose Locust based company, City Wide Exterminating, won the coveted Small Business of the Year Award in 2016, Ashley wears many hats with seeming ease.

Ashley was born in Charlotte and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2008 with degrees in business management and psychology.  She is married to her high school sweetheart, Dylan Morrison and they are the parents of two girls, ages 6 and 3.

Ashley worked with a non-profit in Charlotte for two years before joining the family business of City Wide Exterminating. Here, along with her parents, Robert and Linda Hunnicutt, her brother, Chris and her husband, Dylan, she is part of a truly family enterprise.

As Director of Operations she admits to taking on many jobs within the company. “There’s always something new to learn” she says. “Sometimes I get to go out in the field to see some of the actual processes our technicians perform. That is really interesting.”

However, most of her time is spent in the office overseeing the operational and financial goals of the company. She manages the daily operations to ensure they align with target goals and budget. She also does research to improve efficiency in current programs and services, and handles the majority of the company’s marketing plans.

The next two years will prove even busier for Ashley. The National Pest Management Association vetted more than 40 applicants from across the country for a two-year program. Ashley was one of ten selected. The curriculum will focus on leadership skills development, public policy and legislative issue navigation. It will also focus on skills related to strategic management and planning.

Ashley will still find time to work with the Chamber, an organization she feels is of great benefit to the county’s businesses.

“The Chamber works tirelessly on behalf of its members,” she says. “Here at City Wide, the connections we’ve made with other local businesses and the support from community leaders has been invaluable to us.”

Even with her busy work schedule, Ashley makes sure there is time for relaxation with her family. She, her husband and their two small daughters love to kayak on the Yadkin River’s Falls Reservoir. They also enjoy biking on Morrow Mountain. And one of these days Ashley hopes to find more time to indulge in one of her favorite hobbies: photography.

Ashley Morrison, wife, mother, Chamber ambassador and member of a hard working entrepreneurial family, wears her many hats with grace and ease.
