We rang in another market season last Saturday, under sunny skies, trees in full bloom, and a circle full of happy people! Join us this Saturday as we celebrate Mother's Day weekend. Bring your Mom or Grandmom and share the day with her... or fill a market bag with fresh local goodness and treat her on Sunday. We've got gorgeous flowers and hanging baskets, and all the makings for a delicious Mother's Day brunch or dinner.

Bok Choy with Sesame Maple Sauce

This Asian veggie is making its way into all types of cuisine. Whether it is sautéed with soy sauce and garlic, roasted with salmon, or sliced in a salad, or tossed on the grill, bok choy is a versatile veggie. Plus it's
known to protect bone and eye health, aid with healthy muscle function, protect the heart and promote healthy circulation!

And best of all it's in season now!!

Valley Milkhouse
Spring has Sprung!
This week, Valley Milkhouse brings back another round of stellar regional guest cheeses including Birchrun Blue, Night Hawk and Jack Robin from Dove Song Dairy, as well as fresh local chevre in plain and luscious honey-fig!

And calling all beer lovers: Stefanie will also be bringing her special, experimental batch of creamy soft-ripened cheeses made with locally grown cascade hops! It's the perfect marriage of citrus/hop aromas and the fresh creamy paste of your favorite locally made bloomy rinds.

Plus you can pick up other Valley Milkhouse original cheeses including Thistle (extra soft and luscious this time of year), Witchgrass (the blue-gray ashed pyramid of love), and Clover fromage blanc adorned with locally grown herbes de provence from Crooked Row Farm. Be sure to try it out in our market recipe of the week: asparagus and Clover quiche!

RECIPE OF THE WEEK
Springtime Asparagus and Clover Frittata

1-2 bunches fresh asparagus
4 oz Jack Robin goat cheese, cut into 1/4-inch cubes
8 oz Clover fromage blanc
4 large eggs, lightly beaten in a large bowl
1/​4​ teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For a refreshing spring cocktail try their Eight Oaks Garden Mule:
2 oz. Eight Oaks American Vodka OR Gin 
5 Cucumber slices 
7 Mint Leaves 
1/2 Lime 
Ginger Beer

In the bottom of your glass muddle juice of 1/2 of a lime, 4 cucumber slices and 6 mint leaves together. Add 2 oz. Eight Oaks Vodka or Gin and fill glass with ice Fill glass with ginger beer of your choice (Fever Tree or Goslings are great). Garnish with mint leaf & cucumber slice. Cheers to all the moms out there!

Manuel is bringing more great Colombian goodness this week with homemade beef or chicken empanadas; homemade pan de queso (baked cheese bread) and 3 different types of freshly made guacamole: 1) chipotle guacamole - made with fresh cilantro,onions and lemon 2) classic guacamole - cilantro, lemon, scallions salt and pepper. 3) Colombian picante guacamole - tomatillo, onions, cilantro, lemon... and much love.

Roasted butter nut squash with organic spring mix salad with her famous ginger garlic dressing: 
Nasi Goreng (vegetables) will be served hot (ready to eat or packaged to go) -Malaysian fried rice with curry spice( tofu, bell pepper, tofu, onions,broccoli, snow peas and bean sprouts)
Add shrimp and eggs-
Turnip rice cake- fresh shredded turnip(radish) mixed with rice flour ,steamed and pan fry crispy $3- serve with a side of sriracha sauce
Kuih duduh-( banana fritter) - fresh mashed banana in a batter deep fry -delicious $1 each

This time of year schedules start getting crazy and healthy meals can be the first thing to go. Stock up on salads like Tuscan Quinoa; Mediterranean Farro & Kamut; and Cape Cod Chicken salad. There's yummy soups like African Sweet Potato, Spinach & Coconut soup; and Classic Italian Wedding soup.

Dirk Quinn is the guitarist for a high energy funk/jazz band based out of Philadelphia that travels extensively throughout the US and Canada. Utilizing over a decade of steady performing, he has developed a unique and progressive style - one that appeals to a wide variety of music listeners with fans ranging from the jam band hippies to the jazz snobs. Dirk made his debut at EFM at last year's Funk Fest and returns this week to the Music Tent with his great melodic sensibilities, rhythmic experimentation and an accessible modern edge.
