Corporate Values Strategy Group:
What We're Reading
June/July, 2015
We revisit the topic of executive compensation in light of new proposed SEC rules on executive pay disclosure.  Also of note, new voices and new academic research on short-termism that caught our eye.  Enjoy!

  • Bloomberg Business investigates why peer group comparisons are not leading to more sensible CEO pay practices.
  • An NACD Blue Ribbon Commission has released ten recommendations for compensation committees.
  • Former House Majority Leader, Eric Cantor, reflects on the "curse of short-termism" in politics and business, imploring management and their boards to "get out and tell the narrative about long term."
  • New York Times columnist Eduardo Porter laments America's paltry investment in research and what it means for our long-term progress.
  • Research by Duke University finance scholar Jillian Popodak finds that shareholder-oriented corporate governance erodes intangible drivers of long-term corporate value.
  • A new study from Canada's Ivey Business School finds companies with greater analyst coverage are biased away from making long-term capital investments.

Let us know if you think there's something we should be reading!
    Regards,
Judy Samuelson, Rebecca Darr and Miguel Padr ?
