Sign up for Spring 2015! This session we will be having classes on Saturdays and Sunday. Classes begin Sunday, March 1st and Saturday, March 7th, so get your registration in now!

Aspen Ice Spring Games!

ELIGIBILITY RULES FOR PARTICIPANTS

 

The event is open to ALL skaters who are current members of the Aspen Ice Basic Skills Learn to Skate Program.

 

Eligibility will be based on skill level as of closing date of entries. All SNOWPLOW SAM and BASIC SKILLS SKATERS THROUGH BASIC 8 must skate at highest level passed or one higher and NO official U.S. Figure Skating tests may have been passed including MIF or Individual Dances.

 

ENTRIES AND FEES

 

All entries must be handed in no later than April 25th, 2015 and are limited to the first 150 applications received. Late entries will be accepted only if the limit has not been reached. Entry fees are per person, U.S. dollars. The first event is $20.00 and each additional event is $10.00. NO refunds after closing date unless event is canceled. ENTRY FORMS MUST BE FILLED OUT COMPLETELY and returned with fee check made payable to Aspen Ice. There will be a fee for returned checks.

 

AWARDS

 

Everyone will receive an award. Medals will be awarded to first, second, and third places, ties are allowable and encouraged! All awards will be made at appropriate times throughout the competition.

 

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

 

Will be posted no later than May 5th. Information regarding groups and skating times will be emailed out prior to the beginning of competition. We will hold 2 events, A Basic Elements Event and a Basic Program Event.

 

Basic Elements - Participants will perform 4-5 elements from the Basic Skills Class Curriculum. They will enter the ice in small groups and be asked to perform each element individually for the judges. No music and no costumes are allowed.

 

PRACTICE - All Basic Elements Participants will be judged on skills learned in class. Participants will receive a skating pass with 4 additional Public Skate Sessions so that they may practice on their own. For additional instruction Parents have the option to arrange for private lessons with a Skating Coach of their choosing at their own expense.

 

Public Sessions : Mon - Fri 11:30 -1:30, Sat and Sun 11:30 - 1:00 & 2:30 - 4:00

 

Basic Program - Students will perform a 1:00 minute +/- 10 seconds program to music on full ice. Each Program will have element requirements based on the skater's level of skating. Vocal music and costumes are allowed.

 

PRACTICE - All Basic Program Participants will receive a discounted rate on Freestyle Sessions so that they may practice their programs. They will be required to sign in and pay $8.00 at the Front Desk for the scheduled Freestyle sessions. Parents have the option to arrange for their child to work with a Skating Coach of their choice to develop and choreograph a 1 minute program to music at their own expense or develop the program on their own.

Freestyle Sessions : Friday 4-6 PM, Sunday 9-11 AM, Wednesday 4:45 - 5:56 PM

 

MUSIC ( Basic Program Only ) - The music for all free skating programs and showcase must be provided on CD's by the skater. CD's should be clearly marked with the name of the skater, event entered and length of music (not skating time). Competition music is to be turned in at the time of registration. Time duration is always +/- 10 seconds.  

 


Freestyle Is Back!

Freestyle Ice is open ice for figure skaters who wish to practice jumps, spins, moves in the field, ice dance and much more. You may come to practice on your own or you can schedule a lesson your private instructor. The freestyle times can be seen on the chart below.
