Administrative Address
Greetings, AVA Community.

I am so excited to join Aspen View Academy as the Middle School Assistant Principal. I will be working hard this year to support our students, teachers, and parents as we all strive to ensure the greatest educational experience possible!

It is wonderful to see that we are off to such a strong start. Our learners are in the process of memorizing schedules, mastering locker combinations, and getting to know their teachers. Over the last two days as students finalized their elective choices, it was great to chat with them and introduce myself as they stopped by to discuss their schedules. We are also in the process of distributing laptops as part of our one-to-one technology initiative, and there is a palpable excitement in the room. This year we will use the devices to enrich our instructional strategies, engage students in new curricula, and further develop their technological prowess. We are thrilled to introduce this versatile tool as we continue to empower our next generation of capable leaders and citizens.

I look forward to meeting more of our parents and community members as the year progresses, as I also look forward to the accomplishments, discoveries, and growth our students will achieve. I know that 2017-18 will be an incredible year!

Best wishes,
Bruce Gordon
Assistant Principal, Grades 6-8

  LIGHTNING DISMISSAL

If there is lightning in the area during the hours of dismissal, we will move to a "lightning dismissal."  What this means is that students will remain in the building until the lightning passes.  Here are your options for picking up students during a lightning dismissal.
  • You can park your car and bring your carpool tag to the front of the building where a staff member will be putting numbers into the system and wait there for your student.  If you go with this option, please do not leave your car in the carpool line.  You will need to find a spot in the parking lot or park on the street.
  • You can wait in your car for the lightning to pass, and, once that happens, all students will be dismissed.
  • If you do not know your carpool number (the number on your carpool tag), then you can come into the front office with your ID.

If you had items for sale at the Used Uniform Sale, please pick up your money and/or leftover uniforms no later than Wednesday, August 23rd.  All unclaimed items will be donated.

  • newspaper
  • "food" magazines
  • large yogurt, sour cream, etc... cups and lids
  • toilet paper and paper towel rolls
  • wire hangers
  • condiment cups w/lids

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported the Rally for Rylie Car Wash!! Our community is amazing- $713 raised!! Thank you to our many volunteers and those who generously donated supplies! Without you none of this would be possible. We still have more work to do in order to be able to purchase the memorial bench. Be on the lookout for more ways you can help!!

All adults entering the building will need to enter through the main doors and have their driver's license, state ID, or key fob. You will need to provide one of these items each time you enter the building (between the hours of 7:40am-3:45pm). Please understand this is a safety precaution, and we appreciate you not asking us to make exceptions. If you are a parent of an AVA student and you would like a key fob, please bring your driver's license to the front office, and we will be happy to provide you with one. Replacement fobs are $5.
