Are you Ready? We sure are! The start of school is quickly approaching, and everyone at AVA is excited to welcome the students back for an amazing year. It has been a busy summer at school with hiring new teachers and staff, giving the inside of the building some needed facelifts, and training to make sure that we provide your children with an outstanding education in a safe, caring environment.

One of my top priorities for this year is to make sure that AVA has a culture where parents and students love the school. You all should feel welcome at school, and your kids should love coming to school everyday. This is their school. They need to come to school every day knowing that they will be challenged, they will be cared for, they will learn so many new and exciting things, they will be supported, they will have fun, and they belong.

One thing that has really defined AVA is the Capturing Kids Hearts program. I am pleased to announce that this program will continue. A primary component of the program is doing what we can to lessen the anxiety of our students. Doing so will increase performance and student motivation and improve student behavior. When kids know what is expected, know that it is OK to take chances and to make mistakes, they will be better students and learn more.

The idea of the social contract is important because it gives students the opportunity to participate in expressing what is important to them. They can discuss how they want to be treated and what that looks like. They are empowered to be leaders in the classroom and the school.

Thank you for entrusting us with your child. It is a responsibility that we do not take lightly. Our staff is committed to working hard and demonstrating why Aspen View Academy is the best school for your child.

Announcements
Due to construction, Prairie Hawk Street will be closed and detours and traffic delays are expected.  With the school year starting and the construction, please allow for extra time when dropping off and picking up your children.

For questions for our Before and After School Program please contact Nicole Hiam at [email protected]

As of August 12th, all adults entering the building will need to have their driver's license, state ID, or key fob. You will need to provide one of these items each time you enter the building (between the hours of 7:40am-3:45pm). Please understand this is a safety precaution, and we appreciate you not asking us to make exceptions. If you are a parent of an AVA student and you would like a key fob, please bring your driver's license to the front office during Meet and Greets, and we will be happy to provide you with one. Replacement fobs are $5.

Elementary Students (K-5)
On August 7th you will be receiving an email from your child's teacher introducing themselves. There will be a link in the email directing you to a sign-up genius for you to be able sign up for a Meet and Greet time slot. When you open the link, be sure to click on the tab at the top of the page that is the name of your child's homeroom teacher. You will then select a time slot to sign up for. This is an opportunity to meet with your child's teacher before the first day of school.

Meet and Greets are scheduled for:
  • Thursday, August 10th from noon-7pm
  • Friday, August 11th from 8am-noon**
**August 11th is the first day of school for Middle School, which means all adults entering the building (even if they are coming for Meet and Greet) will need their driver's license or key fob.

The first day of school for elementary students is Wednesday, August 16th. School hours for elementary students are 8:15am-3:30pm, and students may enter the building as early as 8:00am. If your elementary student has a middle school sibling or carpools with a middle school student, they may enter the building as early as 7:40am with the middle school student and wait in the cafeteria.
