LeadingAge Illinois in partnership with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Polsinelli is pleased to announce a new offering for Illinois Assisted Living operators, directors and managers - the Illinois Assisted Living Manager's Bootcamp.  The curriculum has been designed to give new and not-so-new Assisted Living operators and managers a deep dive into Illinois' Assisted Living and Shared Housing Act, its implementation, what you need to do to be in compliance and the most common legal issues facing providers today.

The IDPH team will provide an in-depth review of the Assisted Living Code, an overview of the survey process, those areas most problematic and frequently cited, and the Department's expectations for achieving regulatory compliance.  Ample time has been allotted for participant questions.
Matt Murer will review how Assisted Living has evolved in Illinois and the most common operational challenges that are leading to significant liability including Fair Housing, Alzheimer's care, abuse, medication assistance, fraud and abuse and accidents.  He will discuss the forces impacting legal and regulatory compliance through case studies and will offer practical guidance and best practices to navigate these challenges.

OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this educational offering, participants will be able to:
  • Take home a thorough understanding of Illinois' Assisted Living and Shared Housing Act with particular focus on the challenges to the regulations.
  • Correlate the state of Illinois regulations with corporate expectations.
  • Identify Illinois Department of Public Health's criteria for maintaining compliance.
  • Describe the top legal concerns impacting Assisted Living and what you need to do to successfully negotiate through these landmines.
