April Badger Update
Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood.  Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.

MakerSpace/The Garage

Northwestern University has a space called "The Garage" where students go to think way outside the box.  High schools around the state and country have also grabbed onto this idea.  And from these spaces, many an entrepreneur has been born. Some are able to pay for college from the profits of their designs while others, like my godson, used it to build a tiny house out of a bus.  The concept is to create a space for students to collaborate, experiment, innovate, and dream.  This is a list of some of the ideas that have come out of the Northwestern Garage in recent days:

  • eRetirement:  helping people locate to areas that suit their interests upon retiring.
  • PedalCell: charging your phone as you bike
  • Titlas: helps nonviolent drug offenders find employment
  • EatPakd: brings customizable kid lunches/meals to your home
The video link above shows what can be done with students K-12 and then link below will take you directly to The Garage.

Look for MakerSpaces at Badger high school in our West Wing.  We do hope to grow these spaces in the future.

Spring State Testing

Wisconsin Forward Exam:  Sophomore Social Studies Test.  April 11 and 12 in Social Studies Classes.  Students will need

ACT ASPIRE:  Freshmen will take this test on May 2 and Sophomores will take the test on April 25.  This test is designed to give our students an idea of where they stand in being Career and College ready.  It is also a great prep for the ACT that all juniors in the State of Wisconsin take.
