Associated Grant Makers Receives $10K Grant From IBM to Help Build a Smarter Planet
BOSTON, MA - September 29, 2011 - Associated Grant Makers (AGM) today was awarded a grant of $10,000 from IBM to help build a smarter planet.  The grant - known as an IBM Catalyst Grant - is part of IBM's Centennial Celebration of Service.  

AGM received the grant to help nonprofit organizations in its association learn howIBM100

to more effectively employ low cost measures such as social media and new marketing tactics to increase awareness and effectiveness in reaching new donors and volunteers by applying these technology enabled tools.

Partnering with IBM, AGM will host a series of workshops to share best practices to promote skill building in the age of social networking.

Recently AGM partnered with IBM to offer an interactive workshop focused on Marketing and Communications Excellence for local area nonprofit marketing leaders and university students which featured the participation of dozens of IBM volunteers.

IBM is awarding these new grants in order to support employees' volunteer activities to fund innovative projects in areas such as healthcare, energy, and food safety, helping to build a smarter planet. 

"Associated Grant Makers' mission is to promote the practice and promotion of effective philanthropy to improve the health and vitality of our region.  Working in partnership with IBM we are able to offer high impact workshops to our partner nonprofits enabling them to be more effective in carrying out their missions." said Jeffrey Poulos, Executive Director, Associated Grant Makers.  "Our continued relationship with IBM and IBM volunteers has helped us to better serve marketing professionals in the nonprofit sector to better enable them to provide better services to those in need in our community. We are honored to be a recipient of the IBM Catalyst Grant, and we are pleased to receive this generous contribution that will help us further our mission."

Catalyst Grants support IBMers' volunteer projects that demonstrate how to build a smarter planet.
