New Website, Updated Logo to Represent Association
The SEAA Board of Directors is proud to announce that the association has launched a new website to better serve members and the industry. It features a fully mobile-friendly platform, dynamic visuals, and easy-to-navigate information.

"SEAA's marketing presence now reflects the makeup of our association-companies that lead the industry in safety initiatives, craft training and apprenticeship programs, and coast-to-coast geographic growth," said Josh Cilley, SEAA President.

Along with the new website, SEAA has also updated its logo, which matches the national interests of the association membership. "The new logo stays true to SEAA's roots while putting a fresh, modern spin on our image," said Chris Legnon, Secretary and Media Committee Chairman. MORE
Connector Magazine Earns Superstar Award
The Steel Erectors Association of America (SEAA) was recently recognized by the Construction Marketing Association (CMA) annual STAR™ Awards for marketing excellence in the construction industry.
 
Connector, a quarterly magazine for steel erectors, fabricators and contractors working in steel construction, received a 2017 Superstar Award in the Collateral/Trade Magazine category. The CMA STAR awards recognize excellence in 16 marketing categories and 80 sub-categories, including branding, literature, communications, trade shows, and publicity. Gen Z Career Preferences Align with Construction Industry Workforce Needs
The next generation - Gen Z - is beginning to consider employment opportunities. Born between 1995 and 2014, these young people are profoundly different from Millennials in several ways that may be very good for the construction industry, says Megan Wild, a guest blogger for NCCER. She says they are practical and open to employment training. "They are very interested in steady employment and very willing to forego a college education if they can find training and education for a job that doesn't include it," says Wild. MORE
Research Launched on Integration of VR, Simulators into Aerial Training
A global consultation is to be launched by the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) to establish the possibilities for powered access training and safety guidance afforded by new technology such as virtual reality and platform simulators. 

"IPAF  endorses the use of VR simulators as a good training tool for MEWP operators, when used in addition to the current IPAF theory and practical training programmes," said Tim Whiteman, IPAF CEO and Managing Director. MORE
New Steel Construction Standards, Resources from AISC
The American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) is pleased to announce the release of Certification Standard for Steel Fabrication and Erection, and Manufacturing of Metal Components (AISC 207-16). This standard brings together provisions from four existing standards on fabrication, erection, and component manufacturing.

In addition, AISC is offering new resources to complement the 15th Edition Steel Construction Manual, including design examples and shapes databases. MORE
Go Build America Launches National Initiative
More than 7 years after the launch of Go Build Alabama, Go Build America expands upon the  Alabama,  Tennessee and  California state programs to provide critical recruitment resources directly to those same employers and associations all across the country - while at the same time offering an all-inclusive national campaign to rebrand and promote the skilled trades.

"This new initiative will allow organizations large and small to utilize and benefit from our proven outreach strategy and connectivity tools, and bring our entire industry together with one cohesive message: Go Build America," said Bob Woods, CEO/President of Go Build and first Executive Director of Go Build Alabama. The Steel Erectors Association of America will hold its 46th Annual Convention and Trade Show April 25-27, in Greensboro, N.C., at the Grandover Resort and Conference Center.
