Athens Regional Foundation

Thank you for being generous!

The Athens Regional Foundation will celebrate Generosity Week February 24-28. Generosity is defined as the virtue of giving good things freely and abundantly. If there is one word to describe our employees, volunteers and supporters at Athens Regional, it is generous.

This month, our Employee Generosity Program, GIFT, will hit the $3.9 million mark in total contributions to Athens Regional Health System. Last year, more than 2,000 community supporters made financial gifts that helped us improve the health and lives of those we touch. Also in 2013, 621 volunteers at Athens Regional contributed more than 37,000 hours of their time to serve the health system.

The Athens Regional Foundation thanks our generous family of employees, community supporters and volunteers!

Fanning Award & Pillar Society Reception
What better way to celebrate Generosity Week than to recognize the 25th J.W. Fanning Humanitarian of the Year? The annual Pillar Society Reception is 5:30 p.m. Feb. 27 at the UGA Sanford Stadium SkyClub.
This year, we honor three generous citizens:
  • Annette Barfield is a former nurse and has volunteered with Athens Regional for more than 15 years. She most recently served as the president of the Auxiliary.
  • Dr. Elizabeth Nevil is a retired elementary educator of 33 years and has also been involved with the Auxiliary.
  • Dr. Glen Wiggans is a retired oncologist who serves as the board president for the Cancer Foundation of Northeast Georgia.
