Diamond Crown cigars were created as a result of J.C. Newman Cigar Company's 100th Anniversary in 1995. Stanford J. Newman joined Carlos Fuente Sr. to create a super-premium cigar unlike anything that was out in the market. The anticipation of this cigar was tremendous, as two powerhouses in the cigar industry were uniting under one cigar line. Diamond Crown cigars wanted to be a thick cigar for the experienced aficionado, so all Diamond Crown cigars were created with a minimum 54 cigar ring gauge. The larger ring, which would allow for the blending of 6-7 individual tobacco leaves (an extremely complex blend of tobaccos), would assure the maximum amount of flavor for each cigar. Diamond Crown cigars use premium tobacco from the Dominican Republic. According to Eric Newman, son of Stanford Newman, "There has never been a cigar like Diamond Crown - ever!"
Diamond Crown JULIUS CAESER honors a grandfather, Julius Caeser ("J.C.") Newman, a true cigar pioneer and founder of the J.C. Newman Cigar Company. Born in a small Hungarian village, J.C. and his family sailed across the Atlantic in 1888 in search of the American Dream.
In May, 1895 J.C. started his own cigar business, rolling his first 500 cigars for the family grocer. Of the 42,000 cigar manufacturers licensed in 1895, J.C. Newman Cigar Company is the only premium cigar maker that is still owned and operated by the founding family.
In 2010 J. Newman Cigar Company created a Diamond Crown that honors J.C. Diamond Crown JULIUS CAESER cigars are meticulously rolled by hand in small batches by Tabacalera A. Fuente in the Dominican Republic. Flavorful Ecuadorian Havana-seed wrappers, combined with a robust blend of Central American tobaccos, are aged for five years to give JULIUS CAESER its bold, rich distinctive flavor.
