Kathy MacAdams, SBDC Business Consultant, ASBC , has earned Accreditation from Association of Accredited Small Business Consultants ®  

The Association of Accredited Small Business Consultants (AASBC) is the only global small business consulting association of its kind. The course content provides an A-Z learning curriculum for the Small Business Consultant. In addition to written materials, there are lecture videos, PowerPoint presentations, online resources and an open forum community. Although I have been a Business Consultant for over six years, I can now include the Accreditation to enhance my skill set. I am excited to be part of the AASBC and look forward to utilizing the resources of my membership.
Wynne Briscoe, SBDC Business Consultant is now a Certified Technology Consultant

In December 2017 Wynne completed the Technology Commercialization Certification and is now a Certified Technology Consultant from the Institute for Technology Commercialization, with University of Houston, Texas. This certification has given her the knowledge to better consult and advise entrepreneurs and small businesses in St. Mary's County (and the region) with the process of taking their concept idea through the technical and intellectual commercialization process to mass market.

Recruitment for the SBA’s Emerging Leaders 2018 training cycle is now underway at the SBA Baltimore District Office and we’re looking for interested small businesses.
Since 2008, Emerging Leaders has trained more than 4,000 promising small business owners in underserved communities, and continues its impact in helping small business owners grow and create jobs. The Department of Labor is establishing this program under the Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act, or HIRE Vets Act. President Donald J. Trump signed the act into law May 5, 2017.

On January 18, 2018,  the U.S. Department of Labor announced the launch  of the HIRE Vets Medallion Program Demonstration — an effort that will recognize up to 300 employers for their investments in recruiting, employing, and retaining our nation’s veterans. More Information

Hogan Administration Announces New “Maryland OneStop” Statewide Licensing Portal; Provides Citizens With Direct Access to Hundreds of Licenses Across State Government; ANNAPOLIS, MD

The MD MEP Manufacturing Internship program places students into internships in Maryland manufacturing facilities. The goal of this program is to expose students to manufacturing and to get them excited and prepared for careers in the industry upon graduation. Not only does this program match manufacturers to students, this program also offers the students additional learning opportunities throughout the summer that are hosted by MD MEP. These learning activities include job readiness training, tours of manufacturing facilities and networking opportunities with their peers.

This program has proven to a huge success over the last two years with participating companies reporting over 1 million dollars in cost savings and other impacts due to the work of their interns.

SDAT Releases New Version of Maryland Business Express,
Begins Accepting PayPal

Updated Features and Payment Options Make It Easier to do Business in Maryland

The Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation (SDAT) this week released a new version of Maryland Business Express, which now includes PayPal as a payment option, as well as over a dozen updated features that make it easier to conduct business with the state. Maryland Business Express (MBE) is SDAT’s award-winning online portal for registering and maintaining businesses, filing returns, and requesting document copies.

These portals have been nationally recognized as a “next-generation, best-of-breed digital government solution” (MBE) and a “State IT Innovation of the Year” (UCC).
