Important Information | Upcoming Events

Attention Parents & Guardians | We Need Your Help  

Our band students are fortunate to be able to participate in amazing performance opportunities outside of school, contributing to their development as musicians, creating life long experiences, and representing our school.

But we can't do it without your help 
  1. We need chaperones. Our band events require Parent/Guardian help to  chaperone on student trips and w e must have the correct ratio of student/adult per district regulations for these trips to continue to occur. Please consider volunteering for the EBMEA band trip coming up to Ingraham on Tuesday, March 28.
     
  2. We need permission slips.  Please sign your student's permission slips and encourage them to turn them in by the due dates so they can attend the event. Some band events require your student to miss classes; these permission slips also need to have their teachers signatures as well on the permission slip such as the upcoming EBMEA band trip to Ingraham.

Elliott Bay Music Educator's Association (EBMEA)
 Band Festival | Tues, March 28

The Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble & Percussionists will perform for two judges during the entire school day at Ingraham High School on Tues, March 28. The judges will give ratings and an on-stage clinic after the bands performance. This is a mandatory event and a huge part of the band curriculum.  Students will also have the opportunity to hear bands from Roosevelt, Hale and Ingraham.   Ballard bands should be performing around noon.  This adjudicated performance is very exciting and informative for the audience to watch.  Students will be loading busses at 9:30 am and will return to Ballard at approximately 2:00 pm.
  • We are in desperate need of 6 adult chaperones for this Band Festival trip. The time commitment for chaperones is 9:30am- 2:00pm. Please email Jill Hansen at maddoghansen@msn.com as soon as possible if you can help out and she will follow up with any paperwork that might be needed.
     
  • Student permission slips are due TOMORROW 3/20 and need to have both parent/guardian AND all teachers signatures since students will be missing school on Tues, 3/28 for this event.

  • Students must wear their concert attire.
     
  • Students MUST bring a lunch, they are not permitted to leave the building

Carnegie Hall | NY International Music Festival

Reminders For Wind Ensemble Families 
  • There are 10-past due NY International  Carnegie Hall Permission Slips

  • Pre-Carnegie Hall Concert Wed, March 29th 7:00 pm  
    Please invite
     family and friends to the Wind Ensemble "Send Off" concert at the BHS Performing Arts Center.  We hope to fill the PAC to hear the students perform Overture to 'Candide' | Leonard Bernstein and 'Give Us This Day' | David Maslanka before they leave for NYC & Carnegie Hall!
     
  • Mandatory Parent, Student & Chaperone Meeting directly after the short Pre-Carnegie Hall Concert.  Mr James will be providing important information for families regarding the trip on 4/7. There will be a Q & A, an updated trip itinerary, contact info, a packing list and more!
