In addition, WCHS will show footage from its own collections, including the 1950 Appalachian Theatre fire and the 1949 Watauga County Centennial Parade. Solar Eclipse Celebration!
|
Make plans now to join us on
Monday, August 21st from
1:09 pm until 4:01 pm for an amazing day! A total eclipse of the sun will be visible in the continental United States for the first time in almost 40 years. A total eclipse is when the sun is completely hidden by the moon, the sky becomes dark, and the sun's faint appearance becomes visible, like a beautiful halo. In Boone, we will experience a partial eclipse beginning at 1:09 pm, peaking at 2:38 pm, and ending at 4:01 pm. We will be making galaxy slime and other solar activities for the kids. Bring your lawn chair or blanket for the front lawn, and check in at the Youth Services desk to pick up your solar glasses while they last.
