Spotlight on Mass Readings
Aug. 16/17, 2014
In the first reading, the Lord speaks through the prophet Isaiah during a time of political dissolution and moral decline. The prophet had warned of God's judgment against people for the feelings of self-importance they found in their possessions, and condemned them for various forms of economic injustice such as exploiting the poor and immigrants. Good stewards know that Isaiah's message is as compelling today as it was in the time of the kingdom of Judah: Do the right thing. Offer justice and compassion toward others. Be honest in all your dealings. And, remember to observe the day of the Lord.

"I think being a good steward is something you have to work at every day. There is always room to improve how you are being responsible in your decisions and how you manage the gifts that God has provided you.
"Being a good steward means putting to use the gifts and abilities God has given each of us and using them to serve others."
~Paul Seguin, Parish Council Member, Middle School Youth Group Assistant, and St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School Booster Club Volunteer

Marriage Preparation
In order to be married at St. Anne Church, couples are required to participate in The Covenant, our parish's marriage preparation program.
During The Covenant, a team of parish couples works together to assist couples preparing for marriage by presenting talks and exercises on pertinent issues, including: communication; prayer and spirituality; planning a family; intimacy and sexuality; natural family planning; finances; marriage as a sacrament; and planning a wedding.
The Covenant is offered three times a year. The next Covenant Program will be held Sept. 5 & 6 at St. Anne Church. If you are interested in signing up to attend this program, email or call Pastoral Assistant Margo Truett at 706-561-8678.
