2016 Arizona Poetry Out Loud: School Registration Now Open
Register your school for Poetry Out Loud
Registration is now open for 2016 Arizona Poetry Out Loud. Teachers who would like to participate register themselves for the program. Once registered, each participating teacher/school site receives a toolkit, which includes a program guide to help teach recitation and performance and a DVD and companion guide for learning recitation-free of charge.

With the deadlines for Artist Research & Development Grants and Professional Development Grants fast approaching, the Arizona Commission on the Arts is hosting a series of artist grant information sessions and grantwriting workshops throughout the coming weeks:

Next50 Photo Contest
Deadline: August 28
In fall 2015, the Arizona Commission on the Arts will launch Next50: a 3-year visionary planning initiative designed to unleash the power of the arts in realizing Arizona's brightest future. As we prepare to launch the initiative, the Arts Commission is inviting Arizona photographers to submit original photographs capturing Arizona's spirit, beauty and potential. 

Strengthening Schools through Arts Partnerships 
Recently, the Arts Commission announced that it will invest an additional $45,000 in support of substantive school/community partnerships that implement arts education and/or arts integration initiatives aimed at effecting change in low-performing schools (Arizona "D" and "F" label schools).
Three partnerships were awarded funding this year.

The Arizona Commission on the Arts is currently accepting applications for Artist Research and Development Grants (ARDG). This month we are speaking with 2015's ARDG recipients in a series called Perspectives.  

GIA Racial Equity Forum
On June 2, 2015, Grantmakers in the Arts hosted a national dialogue for arts funders on increasing funding and access to funding for African, Latino(a), Asian, Arab and Native American (ALAANA) organizations.  You can now view videos from this landmark forum.

The Our Town grant program supports creative placemaking projects that help to transform communities into lively, beautiful, and resilient places with the arts at their core. Projects may include arts engagement, cultural planning, and design projects.

Volunteer Legal Assistance for the Arts
Volunteer Legal Assistance for the Arts (VLAA) is a Pro Bono group affiliated with the ASU Sandra Day O'Conner College of Law. Pairing a practicing legal professional with an ASU Law student, they can advise AZ artists and arts organizations on a wide range of legal matters. 

Accepting Applications for 2015 Piper Fellows
The Piper Fellows sabbatical program acknowledges the never-ceasing demands of nonprofit leadership offering opportunities for Maricopa County leaders to retool, refresh, and renew. A Piper Fellowship offers the potential for a $90,000 Piper Trust commitment to a Fellow's organization.
