AZ Creative Aging Generations Lab
Call for Applications: AZ Creative Aging Generation(s) Lab  
Application Deadline: Monday, September 26, 2016, 11:59pm 
Generation(s) Lab is an incubator program for arts organizations with a serious and committed interest in better serving Arizona's older adults by strengthening existing programs and/or developing new initiatives. The Arizona Commission on the Arts is seeking up to 11 arts organizations throughout Maricopa County to participate in this new program of the AZ Creative Aging initiative, to take place November 2016 through May 2017.

In September 2016 the Arizona Commission on the Arts and VSA Arizona will present a pair of webinars on ADA compliance for nonprofit arts organizations. With sessions designed for both those who are just getting started and those who are ready to move beyond mere compliance, all nonprofit arts organizations are encouraged to participate. 

Both webinars are offered free of charge. Advance registration is required.

AZ ArtWorker: Liz Lerman's Critical Response Process

Join Macarthur "Genius Grant" recipient Liz Lerman for an introductory workshop on her Critical Response Process (CRP), a facilitated structure for giving and getting feedback on artistic works in progress. Grounded in principles of meaning, inquiry, and dialogue, it is designed to leave the maker eager and motivated to get back to work on the project under consideration. 

This workshop is presented in partnership with [nueBOX] and participants will have priority registration privileges for their  one-day CRP intensive in November.

Workshop size is limited to 30. Advance registration is required.

Poetry Out Loud Registration
2017 Poetry Out Loud: School Registration Now Open 
Registration Deadline: Monday, October 31, 2016
Registration is now open for 2017 Arizona Poetry Out Loud. Teachers who would like to participate register themselves for the program. Once registered, each participating teacher/school site receives a toolkit, which includes a program guide to help teach recitation and performance and a DVD and companion guide for learning recitation-free of charge.

Up to 10 scholarship grants are available for artists and teaching artists to attend the upcoming Humanities in Medicine Symposium, November 4-5, 2016, at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona.

Final Reports Deadline
NEA Chairman Jane Chu Visits Arizona
In August, 2016, the Arizona Commission on the Arts was honored to host National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Jane Chu and State and Regional Partnership Director Laura Scanlan. During a brief, two day tour, Chairman Chu visited several nonprofit arts organizations, spoke with local artists and participated in a town hall conversation at Mesa Arts Center.   

FY16 Final Reports 
Deadline: Monday, September 12, 2016
The deadline for recipients of Arizona Commission on the Arts Fiscal Year 2016 Arts Learning, Festival, or Community Investment Grants to submit their final reports is Monday, September 12, 2016. Final reports are available through the GO (Grants Online) system.

Tucson Pima Arts Council is Now Arts Foundation for Tucson & Southern AZ
 
This month, Tucson Pima Arts Council announced it had changed its name to The Arts Foundation for Tucson and Southern Arizona. This name change is accompanied by a change of location and a new website.

This year, the Arts Foundation for Tucson and Southern Arizona is excited to present the Lumies in an entirely new light: Noche de las Artes is a night to join people from throughout Southern Arizona to collectively acknowledge the arts and their impact in the region's culture and heritage.  

SAACA announces inaugural issue of Undercover Arts Magazine
In October 2016 the Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance will publish the inaugural 74 page issue of UNDERCOVER ARTS. The magazine style publication will serve as the most comprehensive resource for the arts and creativity in Southern Arizona.
