Moving Together, Moving Ahead
Carlos Bell, President
As the President of ACPE, I urge you to join me in participating in the 2016  Sowing Seeds for Our Holy Work Annual Campaign .

The ACPE Foundation has provided critical leadership to support ACPE through the  Sowing Seeds for Our Holy Work  Annual Campaign. In 2015, we saw a record number of donors contribute to the Annual Campaign. The ACPE Board of Representatives continued their amazing track record of 100% participation in giving. And, because of your gifts, ACPE is able to do that which we do best - provide transformative spiritual care education in order to meet the needs of those in life's most vulnerable moments.

Deadline to Apply: August 5, 2016
The 2016 Innovative Program Award grant cycle is now open! Applicants are invited to submit proposals for innovative CPE projects that do not exceed $5,000.

This year, $15,000 is available in grant funds, as funding is currently limited to a percentage of the funds raised by the ACPE Sowing Seeds for Our Holy Work Annual Campaign.

Marc Medwed, Program Manager
The student enrollment process should be done during the orientation to a unit, as any student who completes orientation must be accounted for in unit registrations.

For New Students:   A student who has not taken a unit of CPE since October 2015 must first create an account on the ACPE website.

For Returning Students:   A student who has taken a unit of CPE after October 2015 should already have an account on the ACPE website and should not create a new one.

A New Model for CPE? Leader CPE at United Hospital
Shawn Mai, ACPE Supervisor
Author Kevin Cashman writes in his book  Leadership from the Inside Out "Our ability to grow as a leader is based on our ability to grow as a person. We will not analyze the external act  of leadership into a formula of . . . quick tips. Rather, we will take a reflective journey to foster the  personal awakening needed to enhance our leadership effectiveness. "

Kyle Vlach  and I began working together as ACPE Supervisors three and a half years ago at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN (a component site of the Allina CPE Center). We both supervise out of theories of gaining choice from greater access to self. Recognizing our complementary theories, we began developing a co-supervision model that served the students and
allowed  for a more balanced day-to-day involvement in the hospital.

Biju Chacko, Chair
Greetings Colleagues! Because of you, ACPE has already gotten off to a great giving start in 2016. We're halfway through the year, and have already raised over $49,000 in gifts and pledges. Indeed, we are well on our way to meeting our 2016 fundraising goal of $85,000!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

We continue to need your charitable investment and support. If you haven't done so already, please join me in making a monthly gift of $10, $25, $50 or $100 to ensure ACPE has consistent resources to support our holy work.

Certification Reform and Professional Development Work Group Initiatives
In May 2014, two work groups were formed to develop a new proposal for the Certification Process and for Professional Development of Supervisors. After two years of intensive, thoughtful and innovative work, the proposal from the work groups was unanimously approved by the Board of Representatives at its May 2016 meeting. Following the May meeting, an implementation team will be working to determine how the proposal will become our practice, with an anticipated beginning of January, 2018.

share - Hands in Circle
If you are a CPE student or a SES, we would love to hear from you! If you are an ACPE Supervisor, please encourage your students to share their experience!

We would love to hear from students about their CPE experiences. What will stay with you? What is one important memory, story or encounter that will continue to shape your sense of vocation?

Let us know! Send up to 500 words to John Roch. We will post your stories in our "members only" section of the website. We also hope to share portions of stories in our efforts to build the association.
