A new school year marks a new season for many school-aged children, and we're embarking on a new season here at The Gatehouse, too. 47 women with 70 children are working toward permanent healing and breaking cycles of abuse and poverty. More than 1,300 volunteers have been trained, events are scheduled for fall, the career development plan is underway, and the next step in our journey is to provide a place for childcare and early learning by building a childcare academy. As we continue to gear up and fill the neighborhoods, we thank you for sharing your time, talent and treasure so families who have nowhere else to turn but desire to work a program for permanent change, receive what's needed for a rewarding journey

On-campus childcare academy campaign launches

As The Gatehouse nears full capacity, a top priority is building an on-site childcare center to provide high-quality early learning for Gatehouse children.

The Gatehouse currently finances child care for our members through local centers, but our goal is to reduce this expense and better serve our families by keeping the children on The Gatehouse property for full-time child care/early learning, after-school care and evening/weekend care during their mothers' support group, counseling and life-skills meetings.

An on-campus Gatehouse childcare academy will also provide needed space for the full development of our Student Enrichment Program to serve approximately 150 Gatehouse children, ages 5 to 15. A third-party will operate the academy for profit and subsidize Gatehouse children for substantial saving to The Gatehouse.

High-quality early learning is even more important for disadvantaged children since it prepares them to start school at the same level as their peers. The Gatehouse's mission is to offer the women and children we serve an opportunity for permanent, positive change so they may reach their God-given potential. This $4.5 million project will equip Gatehouse children with the early-learning foundation necessary to achieve their highest potential. Construction is slated to begin late 2016 and be completed in one year.

Watch for upcoming details. Naming opportunities will be available.
B2S Back, back, back to school!

Thank you to Chris & Kari Mawn and all the volunteers who created a Back to School Carnival for school-aged children to celebrate the new school year. Thanks to Celanese Foundation for providing a grant so each child had their needed school supplies and a new backpack.
GHVoice Gatehouse Voice: Assessments boost confidence
"I found Accenture's (training modules) very beneficial. It helped me realize what I need to work on and where my areas of growth are. I also saw that I'm more prepared (for the workplace) than I thought. That was very important because I tend to think that I am not. I am so grateful and thankful to Accenture for offering me these assessments. This is just one more thing that has helped me grow and believe in myself. I am not the woman I was when I walked through those gates! Thank you!" -- from I.

 Help Keeps with member registry

When women join The Gatehouse, they often come with only a backpack of items and their clothes are worn out or don't fit.
As women heal and begin their journey to self-supportiveness, new clothing help women attend work and school with dignity. See our current members' needs and shop Keeps's registry.
Don't want to shop? Donate online and indicate *Keeps Boutique* in the comments field.
