We would love to hear about the great things you are doing in the community! If you have a program you think others could benefit from learning about, please let us know so that we can include you in our Member Spotlight

Are you hosting or participating in a conference, symposium, training, or other event in California? Please let us know and we will share it with the Network.

The California LGBT Health and Human Services Network is starting a blog and we'd love to have you - our community members - be guest writers. Do you have something to say about LGBTQ folks and the areas of health care, mental health, public health, sexual health, substance use, income inequality, or social services? Do you have resource suggestions or an organization accessible to the community that you would like to share? Would you like folks on the network to know about a community need or the great work you are doing? If the answer is yes to any of these, please contact us! You can submit content to our Outreach and Advocacy Coordinator at [email protected]

New Network Staff

Dear Network Members,

I am excited to get started conspiring with you for positive change through the CA LGBT HHS Network!

A little bit about me:  I have an MSW and a passion for education and advocacy. I look forward to using my ten years of experience in mental health and community services to advocate for LGBTQ mental health policy. Prior to joining the Health Access team, I provided case management services at Transitional Living and Community Services, helped develop WEAVE's Anti-Trafficking Program for minors, supported foster youth with clinical therapy at The Children's Receiving Home, and was the first Director of Programs at The Sacramento LGBT Community Center.

Because of my own experience, I have a special passion for LGBTQ survivors of gender based violence. I have been honored to provide support for queer survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and sex trafficking. I have also created and provided training around these issues for community members and service providers in the Sacramento area. I believe supporting the mental health of the LGBTQ community includes approaching issues through a lens of intersectionality and I eagerly look forward to collaborating with stakeholders in marginalized LGBTQ communities to develop culturally supportive interventions, training, and policy. I believe that queer people of color, the trans community, the economically disadvantaged, and folks living with disabilities deserve comprehensive care that addresses ALL aspects of their experience.

Fun Facts:
I was a part of the 2012 Sacramento cast of the Vagina Monologues.
I currently teach Race, Class, Gender, and Leisure at the California State University of Sacramento.

In Solidarity,
