1st Saturday Work Party
Friends of Cheasty Greenspace at Mountain View
Date/Time: Saturday, August 5, 10am - noon
Location: Cheasty Greenspace at Mountain View is just SW of the intersection of Alaskan Way and MLK Drive. We meet at 2809 S. Alaska Pl. Street. Parking is available on Alaska Place or take the light rail to the Columbia City Link Station
Friends of Cheasty Greenspace at Mountain View is a community-led volunteer organization in South Seattle dedicated to restoring urban green space, increasing community access to nature, and providing outdoor recreational opportunities in urban forests. Come join us in the woods for two hours of planting, trail maintenance and/or weed pulling. Our events are fun and quick and we get a lot of good work done! Please wear sturdy shoes, long pants, and long sleeves. Don't forget your raincoat on wet days. Please remember to bring your own water bottle.
Ages: Families with children of all ages are welcome to volunteer.

Back to School Backpacks & Back to School in Style Baskets
YWCA
Date/Time: Deliver backpacks and baskets to the YWCA on Friday, August 23 between 8am - 6pm
Location: 2301 S. Jackson St., Seattle. (Corner of Jackson and 23rd lower level)
Make a difference for students who are homeless as they head back to school. Choose from one of the following options for giving so that a homeless student may feel comfortable and confident as they engage in their schoolwork:
Option 1: Back to School Backpacks
You and you family can help by collecting school supplies to help YWCA resident kids get ready for school. Choose whichever grade you wish to support from kindergarten - 12th grade. Click

Option 2: Back to School in Style Baskets
Help a student start the new school year with both school supplies and clothing. Many of these students go to school wearing the wrong size shoes, or clothes with holes in them. You can supply them with one new outfit so their first step into school is a comfortable one. For this basket, you'll purchase a full outfit which equals = 1 top, 1 bottom, 1 sweater, 1 pair of shoes, socks, and underwear. You'll be assigned a specific child to outfit. We'll supply you with student, age, gender, favorite color, etc, and then you can go shopping for the backpack, school supplies, and a full outfit!

Edible Hope
St. Luke's
Date/Time: Choose any morning Monday - Friday from 7 - 10am
Location: 5710 22nd Avenue NW, Seattle
Please join us in preparing a hot breakfast meal to homeless people. For over 27 years, St. Luke's has been welcoming and serving anyone who needs a meal in our church basement. Each weekday morning, a ministry team opens our doors, prepares coffee and food (all of which has been donated), and offers a meal, a cup of coffee, and a warm place to enjoy them to everyone who shows up. On average, we serve over 100 breakfast meals each day Monday through Friday. That's about 2,000 meals a month. We welcome your gift of time, care and nourishment to people experiencing hunger.

Habitat Restoration at Meadowbrook Slough
Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust
Date/Time: Saturday, August 19, 10 - 2pm
Location: Three Forks Natural Area: Meadowbrook Slough. This 418-acre Three Forks Natural Area is at the confluence of the three forks of the Snoqualmie River, the largest river system in King County. Detailed directions will be sent to you once you've registered online.
The 418-acre Three Forks Natural Area is at the confluence of the three forks of the Snoqualmie River, the largest river system in King County. With sweeping views of Mount Si and Rattlesnake Mountain, the Three Forks Natural Area includes over five miles of riverfront with juvenile trout habitat, and serves as a sanctuary and corridor for a broad range of wildlife including black bear, elk, cougar, eagle, deer, and river otter. Meadowbrook slough, one of the most notable wetlands in Three Forks Natural Area, has suffered degradation through the introduction of invasive plants such as Himalayan blackberry and Japanese knotweed. These plants do not provide needed shelter for wildlife and fish and their competition jeopardizes the health of native vegetation. Join us as we continue to remove these invasive species and restore a healthy ecosystem
Ages: All ages are welcome. An adult must accompany children under 13, and anyone under 18 not accompanied by their guardian must bring a
youth waiver.

Jubilee Service Day
Jubilee REACH
Date/Time: Saturday, August 26, 8am - noon or 1 - 5pm
Location: 14200 SE 13th Place, Bellevue
Jubilee Service Day is an annual event in August that brings together people in the eastside community to serve at local public schools and homes. Choose from these three areas of service for family volunteer opportunities:
Home Sites:
Home site volunteers complete yard work or paint the outside of the home. Work crews range in size from 15-30 and projects are completed in either half day or full day blocks.
School Sites:
School site volunteers can assist in a classroom: organizing, wall decorating, curriculum assembly and more. Physical work like power washing, window washing and landscaping is also needed. Lighter-duty assignments are available.
Sewing Sites:
Sewing site volunteers create "chair pockets" by cutting fabric, serging, and sewing. Volunteers also organize and sort the finished units, preparing sets to be taken to classrooms the following week.
Ages: Children of all ages are welcome to serve, as long as their parents deem them old enough and/or mature enough to serve. Children age 12 and younger must be with a parent or adult.

Creativity in its many forms will inspire children to approach problem solving in new ways, which will help them navigate the many roads to kindness in our complex society. Your family can choose a project or projects that inspire you and apply your creativity to an act of kindness
