Making a joyful noise

For some of us, the sound of a symphony orchestra brings delight; for others, the sound of bagpipes is stirring; and then there is the joy that emerges when the building is full of the sound of concertinas. One of our recent first-time groups was the Noel Hill Concertina class. Fourteen folks (ranging in age from teenager up to the "undisclosed" age) spent a week practicing, learning, and generally breaking out their instruments at every turn. The lively music brought delight to the staff, and gladdened the 'heart' of St. Mary's.

One of the blessed attributes of the Transfiguration Spirituality Center retreat space is that it can resound with the joy of music or with the sound of contemplative silence. Both can be found in the sacred center here in Glendale.

If you would like to reconnect with your 'center' for a few hours or a few days contact [email protected] to set aside some time for yourself. We look forward to welcoming you.

The welcome we have for our guests we also extend to our newest full-time staff member, Jackie McDaniel. On staff in the Convent Kitchen beginning in 2015,  Jackie joined the TSC staff on July 1 this year as a 'swing' person, meeting the staffing needs of housekeeping and kitchen. Jackie hails from St. Louis, but has made her home in Glendale for several years. When she is not tending to us, she is home tending to her several animals, including a rabbit!

If you see Jackie around, please welcome her to the TSC team.
