Family Overnight Camping Experience

Remarkable Reptiles
Sunday, August 13, 2-3 p.m.
For all ages; $1 per person
Reptiles are really “cool” animals! Learn more about these fascinating critters and meet our live snake and turtle.

Nature Tots - Seasonal Discoveries

Monday,August 14; 10 - 10:30 a.m.

Ages 1-3 years with an adult; $2/child

Discover what is happening in nature each month through

stories, hands on activities, live critters and more.

Kids Discover Nature: Beavers and Otters

Monday, August 14; 11 - noon
Ages 3-7 years with an adult; $4/child

August is a great time to learn about mammals that spend

time in the water! Discover some neat facts about these

animals a nd see what they look like up close with our

real beaver and otter mounts.

Citizen Science Thursday
Thursday, August 24; 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Free; For ages 10 and up
All participants must be registered in our online system.
Volunteer your time with our citizen science projects.

Tasks will vary depending on what needs attention. Tasks may include: cleaning, repairing or monitoring our habitat boxes or installing new ones. Come prepared to learn and work as you contribute to our natural resource work.

Wear sturdy shoes, bring work gloves and water.
Meet at the Cypress Shelter.

Family Overnight Camping Experience
This Friday, August 4th,

5 p.m. until Saturday,

August 5th, 11 a.m.
For ages 4 and up;

$8 per person
Experience the value of family camping in a safe and learning environment. Take advantage of park staff as you practice

camping skills with kids! We will help you with tent set up, cooking tips, fire building and much more.

We want to prepare you for a lifetime of camping.

This year we will camp on the Cypress Shelter field so we have access to the shelter with the restrooms and vehicles nearby.
Relax around the fire, roast marshmallows and enjoy a night hike and other fun activities.

You provide your camping equipment, and

we will provide the food and fun!

More information on what to bring and what to expect will be

sent to those who register including food options.

Programs at the American Tobacco Trail

Geocaching 101 on the ATT

Sunday, August 13; 6 - 7:30 pm

For ages 6 and up; $1 per person

Geocaching is high-tech treasure hunt! Participants use a GPS to track down hidden “caches.”

Learn what geocaching is all about and then take off to find geocaches hidden along the Trail.

We will provide GPS units and instruction on how to use them, but feel free to bring your own unit or smartphone with a geocache app. Register early as class size is limited.

Last year, Haunting at Harris was cancelled due to Hurricane Nicole. We felt like that

was a good call considering the rain we received the days before and on what

would have been our event day.

This year, we will bring you

"Rise of the Legends" revised!
