Reaching Our World For Christ
From Your Associational Mission Strategist
There are times when titles need to be changed in order to be relevant with the current church culture. At the SBC Associational Leadership Conference in June, there was a unanimous vote to change the current name of Associational Missionary to Associational Mission Strategist. This came from a report that was done when there was a study to find out how churches felt about the relevancy of associations. The report indicated that there is still a strong need for associations which led to a study regarding the title for those leading associations. There was a strong sense that Associational leaders main role was helping churches in missional efforts as they reach the lost. The new title certainly brings more clarity of what the main responsibility of what we do as associational leaders. I understand that any name that is changed will take time getting use to, but I definitely will respond to Director of Missions or Associational Missionary. I really find it a great joy to serve our Pastors and our churches and am thankful for what I get to do!

This summer was a such a blessing as we had four great summer camps and two fantastic mission trips to Townsend, TN and Pittsburgh, PA. It is always exciting to see God work in peoples lives and to know we get to be part of God’s plan as hearts and lives are being changed. I am grateful that God led our two summer missionaries to us this summer to assist five churches in VBS, lead in children’s camps, and serve on our HBA mission teams. Please pray for Kelly Childers as she continues her education at Georgia Southern and Autumn Lumley at Brewton Parker College. These two young ladies were a blessing and I know they impacted many lives with the love of Christ!

On September 9th, we will be having our Annual Meeting and I want to encourage all of our churches to attend. This meeting is mainly a time of celebration and worship and this year we are going to be blessed to hear from Rev. Mike Stone who is the President of the Georgia Baptist Convention. You will not want to miss this exciting time as we come together as an association to worship and hear from God’s word. The meeting will be held at FBC Unadilla and will begin at 5:00 p.m. We will also have a children’s conference during this time. Hope to see each of you there!
