August 2018 Prayers
The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:12
Week 1: August 1-8
Pray for the Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau (UPMB) as it is in the final year of its Strategic Plan and conducting an Endline Evaluation . UPMB asks for the Lord’s guidance as it develops a new Strategic Plan to meet all the critical needs of the vulnerable populations through its network of health facilities. Pray for the facilities, Board of Trustees, Directors and Staff as they conduct their work.

August 1-7 is World Breastfeeding Week . Pray for community support and resources to help women breastfeed their infants, providing a healthy start to life.
Week 2: August 9-16
Prayers of thanks for the engagement of faith communities as valuable partners to reduce stigma and encourage treatment and testing for HIV. Prayers of thanks for the work of the Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Services to involve faith groups in Cameroon and of IMA World Health to engage faith leaders to help prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV in Malawi.

Pray for continual and increased involvement of the faith community in the effort to end the AIDS epidemic and awareness among governments and secular organizations of the importance of faith groups as partners. About faith community involvement at the 2018 AIDS Conference
Week 3: August 17-23
Prayers of thanks for a successful program in the Democratic Republic of the Congo by SANRU to empower the community to communicate the importance of immunization and develop champions, resulting in an increase in routine vaccination rates for children over 12 months.

Pray for children affected by malnutrition resulting in stunting. Prayers of thanks for programs to prevent stunting, especially sustainable programs that mobilize the community and use the Care Group model. About World Relief and the Nutrition Weeks effort
Week 4: August 24-31
Praise for the Power of Partnership  

Pray for faith-based organizations partnering with national and local governments to leverage their ability to reach groups who have trouble accessing care. Prayers of thanks for the work of Evergreen in China to provide care and pray for migrant workers who are difficult to reach with health care. More about Evergreen and the China MOH

Prayers of thanks for innovations in healthcare financing to make care accessible and affordable. Praise for the efforts of the Christian Health Association of Lesotho to partner with the Government of Lesotho and pray that challenges are overcome. More about the partnership
