1st Saturday Work Party
Friends of Cheasty Greenspace at Mountain View
Date/Time: Saturday, August 5, 10am - noon
Location: Cheasty Greenspace at Mountain View is just SW of the intersection of Alaskan Way and MLK Drive. We meet at 2809 S. Alaska Pl. Street. Parking is available on Alaska Place or take the light rail to the Columbia City Link Station.
Friends of Cheasty Greenspace at Mountain View is a community-led volunteer organization in South Seattle dedicated to restoring urban green space, increasing community access to nature, and providing outdoor recreational opportunities in urban forests. Come join us in the woods for two hours of planting, trail maintenance and/or weed pulling. Our events are fun, quick, and we get a lot of good work done! Please wear sturdy shoes, long pants, and long sleeves. Don't forget your raincoat on wet days. Please remember to bring your own water bottle
Ages: Families with children of all ages are welcome to volunteer.

Back to School Backpacks & Back to School in Style Baskets
YWCA
Date/Time: Deliver backpacks and baskets to the YWCA on Friday, August 24 between 8am - 6pm
Location: 2301 S. Jackson St., Seattle. (Corner of Jackson and 23rd lower level)
Make a difference for students who are homeless as they head back to school. Choose from one of the following options for giving so that a homeless student may feel comfortable and confident as they engage in their schoolwork:
Option 1: Back to School Backpacks
You and your family can help by collecting school supplies to help YWCA resident kids get ready for school. Choose whichever grade you wish to support from kindergarten - 12th grade. Click

Option 2: Back to School in Style Baskets
Help a student start the new school year with both school supplies and clothing. Many of these students go to school wearing the wrong size shoes, or clothes with holes in them. You can supply them with one new outfit so their first step into school is a comfortable one. For this basket, you'll purchase a full outfit which equals = 1 top, 1 bottom, 1 sweater, 1 pair of shoes, socks, and underwear. You'll be assigned a specific child to outfit. We'll supply you with student, age, gender, favorite color, etc, and then you can go shopping for the backpack, school supplies, and/or a full outfit!

Jubilee Service Day
Jubilee REACH
Date/Time: Saturday, August 25, 8am - noon or 1 - 5pm
Location: 14200 SE 13th Place, Bellevue
Jubilee Service Day is an annual event in August that brings together people in the eastside community to serve at local public schools and homes. Choose from these three areas of service for family volunteer opportunities:
Home Sites:
Home site volunteers complete yard work or paint the outside of the home. Work crews range in size from 15-30 and projects are completed in either half day or full day blocks.
School Sites:
School site volunteers can assist in a classroom: organizing, wall decorating, curriculum assembly, and more. Physical work like power washing, window washing and landscaping is also needed. Lighter-duty assignments are available.
Sewing Sites:
Sewing site volunteers create "chair pockets" by cutting fabric, serging, and sewing. Volunteers also organize and sort the finished units, preparing sets to be taken to classrooms the following week.
Ages: Children of all ages are welcome to serve, as long as their parents deem them old enough and/or mature enough to serve. Children age 12 and younger must be with a parent or adult.

Farmers Market Gleaning
Pike Market Food Bank
Date/Time: Various times, July 30 through October 1

- City Hall Farmers Market (600 4th Ave) - Tuesdays at 1:30pm
- Pike Place Evening Market - Wednesdays at 6:30pm
- South Lake Union Farmers Market (410 Terry Ave. N.) - Thursdays at 1:30pm
- First Hill Farmers Market (9th Ave & University) - Fridays at 1:30pm
The Pike Market Food Bank helps residents of downtown Seattle supplement food security with free groceries. We serve people of all ages and work hard to offer a variety of nutritious foods in a friendly environment. Farmers Market Gleaning volunteers interact directly with Pike Place Market Farmers by collecting donations of unsold produce four times a week at the end of Pike Place Market Farmers Markets. One-time volunteers are fine, but we are ideally looking for volunteers interested in helping on a consistent basis! Volunteer tasks include:
- Meet Gleaning Coordinator at the Farmers Market Information Tent (marked with green signs)
- Introduce yourself to each farmer's stand
- Collect donations of produce to support the Pike Market Food Bank
- Explain tax receipt form and offer it to farmer (we will explain this to you)
- Bring donations back to the Pike Market Food Bank (personal transportation is required, except for the Wednesday Evening Market)
Ages: Ages six years and older are welcome to participate when accompanied by adults
Time Commitment: One hour or more

Foster an Animal
Pasado's Safe Haven
Date/Time: Ongoing
Location: Your home
Foster homes are private individuals who provide temporary care for Pasado's Safe Haven animals in their own homes, giving these animals the extra time, training, or medical care needed until they can be adopted. If you are not ready to adopt, fostering is a great way to give an animal a warm, comfortable home while we continue to search for their forever family. A month in a foster home can sometimes make all the difference for an animal who needs some extra TLC. Pasado's Safe Haven will provide the food, supplies, and any medications needed. Animals in foster homes are promoted on our website and social media, but we also empower you, the foster parent, to help these animals find their permanent homes by giving them visibility in your community.
Ages: An adult must be the primary caretaker of the foster animal. But family members of all ages are welcome to volunteer as a caregiver at home.
Time Commitment: Two weeks or more
