Vote Alachua Update
August 2018
From the Supervisor

It's here! The 2018 Primary Election is at the end of this month, and there are less than 100 days until the General Election.

My Gainesville Sun column this month, which can be read by clicking here , focused on the Primary Election, and why it is important that everyone have a say in it. Regardless of your party affiliation, there will be items on your ballot.

With the change to the law regarding where early voting sites can be, I am excited to work with the University of Florida to secure a site on its campus. We've been talking to administrators there and we are confident that there will be an early voting site on campus for the 2018 General Election.

Respectfully,
Kim A. Barton
Supervisor of Elections
Alachua County

National Intern Day was July 26

A big thank you to Ashley, who is interning with us this summer, and Olivia and Guerin, who interned with us in the spring, for all of the creativity and ideas they brought to our office!
Did you see Supervisor Barton on TV 20?

As part of our outreach efforts for the 2018 Primary Election, Supervisor Barton answered questions live on TV 20.
Don't forget: At 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27, in the Pugh Hall Ocora, three of Florida’s Election Supervisors — Paul Lux (Okaloosa), Wesley Wilcox (Marion) and Mark Earley (Leon) — will provide insight into the Florida processes and procedures designed to keep voters’ ballots safe and secret. Susan MacManus, University of South Florida distinguished professor emeritus, will moderate the discussion.
We were at the Woodland Park Summer Bash July 21. Recently elected Gainesville City Commissioner Gigi Simmons was there to meet with attendees as well.
Our office participated in the Annual Tools for Schools Supply Drive. Supplies that were collected will be given to teachers and students in Alachua County schools.
Training for the 2018 Primary Election ends Wednesday. Thank you to everyone who trained to work the election.
