Hello families!
Well, we blinked, and now it is almost September! I hope everyone had some outstanding adventures both at home and out in the world these last two months. Our wonderful new facilities manager
Emilio Martinez
has been working hard to prepare the campus for your arrival, and it's been so fun seeing early childhood and grades students back on campus helping with classroom prep.
The first day of school is Tuesday, September 5th. Doors open a little early on this day, at 7:45am. Please join us from 7:45am-8:15am for complimentary coffee and a quick playground visit! We are so looking forward to seeing everyone's smiling faces. Our children will be attending their first-day assembly in the wonderful and newly-air conditioned Eurythmy Hall! Thank you to all who contributed to the paddle raise at our Gala to make this a reality!
We are so excited to welcome 46 new families to our WSOC community, as well as the following staff and faculty members: Teresa Alarcon, development director; Michelle Boynton, high school physics and math; Hugh Brennan (returning), high school humanities and sports; Sarah Brooks, aftercare assistant; Kristen Cecil, high school English, Katrina Camaroto, early childhood assistant; Kim Eijpen, high school earth science and biology; Elle Esparza, grades 1-4 Spanish; Elizabeth Jarvis, big aftercare supervisor; Kristi Kilcollins, high school coordinator; Nicole Lanphier, grades assistant; Emilio Martinez, facilities manager; Kathryn Pitts, high school choir; Cynthia Vargas, Pre-K teacher (taking over during Barbara Cubanski's sabbatical year), and Giulia Vittoria, drama support.
In this mini-newsletter you will find links to important documents, including updated parent handbooks, volunteer driver forms, emergency release procedures, and a community calendar highlighting major events.
You will receive a PDF of our school roster separately, for confidentiality purposes, via a community email from me.
Don't forget to sign up for hot lunch via Choice Lunch (in Quick Links below). And please help us honor our neighbors and drive the speed limit. It's 25 mph near the school, which feels very slow, but we want to keep everyone safe. Thank you!
Scroll down to get all of the details on what's happening the month of September, and stay tuned for more information on Back to School Night, taking place September 22nd.
Welcome back, everybody!
